i actually saw this car for sale today, looks wonderful
Next year or so it'll be time for me to upgrade cars, will be looking for something in the $40k range give or take. Deciding between a Mustang, Camaro, F150, Colorado, or BRZ. Keep in mind I live in the Detroit area so I have to deal with nasty winters sometimes but my last Mustang had few problems and my Cruze handles it p well with snow tires

That's the kind of car I'd drive if I was old, stylish as hell, and had a beautiful wife and lots of dosh.
Its the very definition of "autumn years", but the kind of autumn you'd say was well passed before reaching your inevitable demise, instead of being old and sour and cranky.
A classy older gentleman's ride, if you will.

F150 looks sick, especially if winters are harsh.

For what it's worth my mom had a 2012 F-150 Supercrew 5.0 and it was my favorite car I've ever been in or driven. It's so absurdly comfortable, drives amazing, and has all the creature comforts you could ask for, like heated and cooled leather seats.

If you live in the city, don't waste your money on a sporty car, because you'll never use it. Focus on comfort.
If you parallel park or park in a parking garage, please do not buy a pickup truck.
But otherwise, the F150 is the way to go, as long as you have a bed cover for when it snows. I would look into sporty compact SUVs if you're in that price range though, considering you don't seem like the kind of person who has a need for the actual truck part of the truck if you're also looking at Mustangs. They will be more comfy in general than sedans and coupes.

You say you live in the Detroit "area." Does that mean you live in Detroit or a suburb? If the latter, do you frequently go into the city?
If so: Don't get anything overtly large or sporty, as there would be no space at all for anything like that. I'd go with something smaller like a Fiesta or Focus hatchback, a new Fit, or at most something like a CR-V or a Civic hatchback. Shouldn't have to worry too much about the weather, since I assume the city would have snow-clearing teams.
If you stay out of the city, then I don't think you would want any of those except the F-150 or Colorado, provided you get the AWD/4WD versions since you'd be dealing with snow. I'd personally go with the F-150, since Ford generally has better build quality than GM, though I think you'd be better off getting a Toyota or a Honda.
The F-150 is surprisingly easy to parallel park. They're square and have near perfect visibility. You always know where the corners of the car are. If you have the backup camera and sensors, it's about the easiest car I've ever parked, easier than a Fiesta.
The Datsun Cherry X1 Coupe.
It looks wrong in all places, its not very pretty.
But holy shit I love how absurd this thing is.

If I die I want this car as my hearse.

This a million times over, there's a dingus in an F-250 Super Duty with crew cab that parks in my garage every single day, and every single day he almost causes an accident tearing around the tight corners.

Southfield, a few miles from the city proper but not exactly the suburbs either. I go in the city every once in a while but usually park in a structure. I drive an ambulance at work and have to parallel park that without any tech so I'm not too worried about that aspect.
My rationale:
Mustang/Camaro/BRZ: Had a mustang, loved it, lots of fun, Detroit is about 90% freeway driving to get anywhere you wanna go so you can open her up as often as you want. Also love having a stick as opposed to auto. New mustang has lots of cool tech and I'm growing on the look but my fiancée is into Camaros and they are nice also. BRZ is nice because I think they look pretty slick, have a good stick, are apparently fun as hell, just no power.
F150/Colorado (or Silverado/Sierra): First car I had was a 2004 Grand Cherokee w the V8 and 4WD, I miss being able to just bash thru snow and have the utility to bring shit everywhere I go. I sat in an F150 at the auto show this year and was amazed with how roomy it is. I drive a 2014 Cruze Eco right now and while the manual trans is fun and I get ridiculous MPG, I can't move anything with it and there is absolutely no power. And like someone said, I don't particularly need a truck for work or hauling or anything, but trucks nowadays are just like SUVs with an open trunk and I do plan on moving not much longer after getting the car so it'd be handy to have.

if u had a mustang before, and do lots of freeway driving, ur reallyyyy gonna feel the lack of power with the BRZ/FRS. camaros are significantly faster than the mustang both in a straight line and especially on a track out of the box, so cant go wrong with that if thats a priority for you. i liked the looks and the interior on the mustang better so i ended up with one.. if i had to do it over i think id go the same route, but cough up the extra for the performance pack.
i live in the midwest and the mustang does fine in the snow with stock all seasons but im more worried about the other people on the road.. imo keep the cruze and drive that around in the winter or whenever u dont feel like getting 12mpg. itd also be easier on ur insurance premium that way.

Yeah I was planning on keeping the Cruze if only to let my fiancée drive it instead of her beater 2001 cavalier
From my experience the Mustang is the worst thing to park ever and I've driven bigger cars. Except for the Dodge Challenger holy shit that thing is like 1.5x bigger than the Mustang and a million times harder to park.
But then again this is Europe and everything is 0.75x the size of America.
Only get the BRZ/FRS/FT/GT86 if you are looking to breaking the warranty (if brand new) and dropping a supercharger in it. Drove one with a Cosworth Stage2 kit and holy shit do I want one 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌 feels right in all places, handling isn't compromised but you get way more power on the straights. Stock car is fine if you take it to the mountains everyday but on the freeway all you'll be seeing is taillights.
Tbh most American cars look gaudy and/or vulgar to me (eg the rear-end of the 2016 Ford Mustang looks like it belongs on a Hot Wheels toy car). However, I think that some American makers have finally learnt how to make decent looking cars. Eg modern Cadillac V-series models actually don't look half bad.

If GM imported the CTS and CTS-V to replace the outgoing Holden VF Commodores (funny that Holden finally learnt how to make a European-quality car, but just before they had to shut down production), I think that I would be happy.
I like the look of the newer chargers. But not the 2011-12 chargers.
[t]http://st.motortrend.com/uploads/sites/10/2016/09/2017-Dodge-Charger-SXT-AWD-front-three-quarter.jpg[/t]
However, I love the look of the 2010 and previous chargers. Cept the grill, bullbars make it tolerable for me.

But then again I have a bias since my charger has bullbars.

The 'cross' fascia on the front of most Dodges is one of the ugliest things that I have ever seen on any car. Especially when it was used on the pre-2011 Dodge Chargers. It doesn't look so bad on the current Dodge Chargers, and the SRT Chargers actually look alright because they don't have that cross at all.
I don't like how so many American cars try to go for the GRR ANGRY look

I have a crush on the Fiat 147. i'm not entirely sure how reliable is as a car(given how bad people have talked about fiat in this thread) but i love it for several reasons, either for nostalgia or merely for how simple it looks.

I fully agree, the 80's had that certain look they thought the future would like. Digital dashes (hnng), etch-a-sketch satnav, and HUD displays in the windscreen. It's a cool aesthetic, possibly my favorite decade for cars.
The AW11 MR2 shows that 80's futuristic, boxy aesthetic the most really :v:

I'm guessing the new "grrr" car trend is coming w the new mega-horsepower trend, so even if someone can't afford one of the 30+ cars that have 500+ hp stock, they can at least have one that looks like it
