Nope.
This seriously reads back like an in-denial meme trying to polish a turd into something nice but its still a turd.
Yes the Italian cars are unreliable thing is a meme. And it did have truth in Italian cars made in the past. But aside from things like a few Ferraris and Lamborghinis here and there catching on fire randomly, Maseratis built with panel gaps wide enough that you could fit a black person's penis in them, Fiats with 0 star reliability, and some Alfas being made with interior trim that falls apart if you merely breath on it, Italian cars are much better in quality than they used to be.
It's all for a good laugh matey. [sp]But really I'm just mentally preparing myself for when my brand new Alfa breaks down merely minutes after I take it out of the dealership[/sp].
[editline]18th December 2017[/editline]
Besides, I know about unreliability because I have an Australian-built Ford Falcon. I always say that an Italian did the electrics in my car, because sometimes the starter motor refuses to cooperate, other times the speedo won't work, and sometimes the distributor forgets its responsibilities and just fucking daydreams. So coming from all of that, I am happy to put up with more unreliability, as long as the trade-off is driving something as beautiful and passionate as an Alfa.

Like I get cars aren't 100% void of problems, and Alfas have their quirky nature of having them here and there, but its 2018, people pay out the ass for a car, so people kind of expect some quality that is used on their hands and not left parked at the shop for a repair, or at the very least go about their lives in constant fear of something falling apart.
I love Alfas aswell, I'd love to have a Mito or, heck, a GT or a Brera or a Giulietta. But out of all of those, the Mito seems to be the most trustful one of the bunch, while the rest are great to have you crossing your fingers every day you're about to fire it up.
I've read good things about the 159, in terms of reliability. It had a dated look towards the end of its life, but I still loved it. Especially the models with the V6. I was going to get a GT before I got my Falcon, but I've been kicking myself for not contemplating a 159 instead.

I don't find it to be dated at all. It looks fantastic with that front and, well, every bit of the car tbh.
But reliability? Apparently, a lot can go wrong with it and leave you without a hefty sum of money, which is worrying to me.

Oh yeah the 159 still looks glorious, but it was still being sold by the time that Alfa was rolling out the 8C and the MiTo, and it looked dated in comparison to those two. Especially considering that the 159 was somewhat reminiscent of the 156, the latter of which was introduced in the 90's.
MiTos are wonderful little cars. I've always imagined that if I lived in the city and needed a small little car, it would have to be a MiTo (although do they only look wide, or are they actually wide? Could make parking difficult). But yeah, perhaps a bit small for me, hence why I'm going for a Giulietta.
[sp]Going for the Giulietta Veloce as it has better wheels, the bodykit, and the 4C's 1.75L engine of course ;)[/sp]

Not bad at all but like many Japanese cars of the 20th century, it's not that original. At a glance it could be mistaken for a period Bentley or W124.

This is the pinnacle to my love of huge trucks. I became interested in huge vehicles after seeing the termites episode of Angry Beavers as a kid. In the episode was a part where the brothers drove a comically massive and disproportionate truck through tunnels while fighting the termite invasion of their home. I don't remember the exact element which caused the love, but now I love heavy trucks due to the absurd power and aura they give out.
I discovered the MAZ-7310 in the first Spintires game. Instantly I loved it's offroad capability and it blows my mind seeing this 8x8 haul a trailer. It's wide, separate cabins, it's long, and it spews diesel smoke like it's designed to kill all life around it.

If you've ever wanted to go to one place on Earth that has all of the cool, everyday vehicles, you should consider going to New Zealand. I thought that here in Australia we had it quite good because not only do we have our own domestic market which was rarely exported, but we got pretty much everything from Europe, and a lot of JDM (eg the non-GT-R Skylines; including rear-wheel drive, naturally-aspirated or sedan models).
But New Zealand was an absolute pleasure for car spotting when I went on holiday there. Not only were there the aforementioned Australian and European cars, but New Zealand probably has the widest range of JDM cars outside of Japan itself, including a lot of badges that I had never seen before in Australia. There were even a fair few American cars (aside from Jeeps, Chryslers, Dodge Nitros or Mustangs which can also be seen in Australia) converted to driving on the other side of the road, eg I distinctively remember seeing a Dodge Challenger.

Probably helps that NZ doesn't have domestic automakers lobbying for protectionism, and drives on the same side of the road as Australia, Japan and the UK, hence why they get absolutely everything.

The MiTo is slightly older than my job at Alfa, so I can't really say anything about the car from launch. However, we do sell used MiTo's as well from our dealership, and coworker, who just happens to be a good friend of mine as well, drives a MiTo QV.
MiTo's are nice cars with a few nice engines. I'd definitely attempt to get the higher end models when it comes to engines. The 0.9 Twin Air's (2 cylinder) models are a no-go. The engines are fine when it comes to reliability, it's the same engine fitted in the Fiat 500's with 80 hp, but they just lack that great Alfa feel. The QV with the 1.4l 170 horsepower model is great and drives fantastic - imagine a Fiat Punto but with 170 horsepower.
Reliability wise, the only issues I've seen on our MiTo's have been two things: lacking interior quality after every day usage for some years and oil consumption issues. The interior seems to fall behind quite quickly if not well kept, so do make sure to find one that doesn't look like a dog used to live in it. The quality of the materials in the interior simply can't take too much heavy use, but they're great if you're just reasonably wise with not hitting your feet on everything.
As for oil consumption, just make sure the service has been performed at the correct intervals, then it really shouldn't be an issue. If it hasn't had its service, run - The MiTo's, especially with the Alfa specific engines, NEED to have their service performed.

The point behind owning an Alfa is because you're buying something that has some of the best driving dynamics on the market. They drive incredibly nice and they are very driver orientated - something for a real enthusiast.

I see. The A3 I have atm is old, but interior quality is fantastic. The only problem is that it looks old now. Then again, I don't go knocking on things and such, so I guess I should be ok with it.
The engines don't have terrible flaws right? Like the kind of flaws that wreck the engine because you forgot to change a water pump at 40.000 miles? Or is it just the regular "just service it so it doesn't wears itself out like any engine would"?
I have two options within the Mito: either a petrol 1.4 MultiAir, because just like you said, anything below seems too puny, and the 1.6 diesel JTDM. Which one I pick will depend on the future of diesel in Portugal, because petrol is really expensive, and its just aggravated by how diesels like my A3 and I guess the Mito can do great mileage on just a few euros worth of fuel, and thats pretty useful to me.
This is all if I don't end buying an A4 from '04, but the lack of equipment on those plus heavy prices for what I'm getting and ALSO the fact that I cream myself over the Mitos I see (like that one with the volcano red instead of the ugly bright red, or the one with the blacked out chrome bits on the headlights)

The unreliability is part of the Italian charm mate. Just like how it wasn't uncommon for Italian cars in the 70's to have rusted bodies before they even left the factory, haha. Alfas are absolutely beautiful, sound amazing, and are recognised as great pleasures to drive (even though the Giulietta Veloce's ride will break your back lmao).
I like cars with a good drive, but frankly I think it's insane to buy a car where the value drops like a rock the instant you leave the dealership and the mechanic knows you by name because you're back so often because crap keeps breaking.
If I had money to burn I might check out the various high-end FCA sports cars (Challenger, 4C, Charger), but there's no way in hell I'd touch the regular cars. The benefits aren't worth the headaches.
Mazdas drive great, run like a charm, and IMO look better - some Alfas look good, but the big inverted triangle grill is just slapped on everything and doesn't always work out. I'm just hoping that Mazda brings back the "Mazdaspeed" engines and trim levels for the Mazda 3 and 6.

Yeah some of the older Alfas had the distinctive grille design just slapped on eg the GTA and 75, but the design is purposefully incorporated into all of their modern cars. Obviously it's highly subjective, but Alfa hasn't made an ugly car in a long time.
As I mentioned earlier, yeah Alfas have a reputation for unreliability, but it's only really a meme at this point.

It's definitely better than Alfa in the 70s or 80s, but I find it really hard to believe that it's even half-decent with how other FCA cars rate in reliability. Chrysler group cars have sat at the very bottom in automaker reliability for decades, it hasn't gotten any better since the takeover, and their new Fiat owners are hardly doing any better since their reintroduction to the US.

While they share common parts bins, I don't think it's fair to suggest that eg the same engineers responsible for Ferraris are also responsible for Alfas, and also responsible for whatever Dodge is shitting out these days. They each kind of do their own thing.

Oh shit, the GT looks soo good. The interior kind of gets on my nerves because I'm not all that fond of the center console. It just looks weird and kind of pulled out and very straight. Everything else about the car looks fantastic though. Literaly everything. Same for the 159, but I didn't want to go to 4/5 doors unless I found something great I couldn't pass.
My problem with Alfas stem from how the diesels (which is the only afordable option here, and pretty much the only one you'll find) kill themselves whenever the water pump fails, which can happen in 40k miles. A bit worrying.
Comparing that with my A3, is like night and day. No matter how much abuse it takes, it just goes through fuel, with the obvious servicing included ofc.
But truth be told, I'd never touch a BMW. They have some interesting cars, mainly because of RWD and because they sometimes look good, but otherwise, they're the absolute cockmobile around here, and they aren't all that luxurious or well built, with quite a bit of engine problems.
So basicaly, the problem is that theres the Audi lineup up to '04 with the PD130, and those cars pretty much get you used to not having to worry about anything, up until the time you want something a little more exciting to look at...
Speaking of good looking Alfa's.

We're talking about beautiful Alfas? How about the most beautiful Alfa:

I'm sure in 22 pages the 8C has already been posted, but the car's beautiful enough for a repost, fuck it.
8C is one of my favorites yeah, it looks fantastic. Looks better than the new 4C imo but the 4C is still stunning.
Back when Alfa Romeo didn't do mass production there were a fuckton of beautiful varieties from Touring, Pinin Farina, Bertone etc.

Oh yes.
And don't forget some of the great concept cars that were made in Alfa's past like the 33 Carabo:
