We had a 99 GMC Suburban, chewed through fuel like a motherfucker, but it was legitimately a tank. We got rear-ended at ~30 MPH, the car behind us was totaled, our rear bumper was bent up a little. The only thing that ever broke on it was the CD player, which was defective from the factory.

That is the most aerodynamic shape for car. In part it was due to 70s oil crisis, car makers figured that to stay relevant they had to squeeze down consumption. Style changed from roomy boxes of 70s to wind tunnel wonders. On some cars like the Cadillac I posted, the result is wonderfully pleasing. And on some cars... Not.
