I took the stupid wind deflectors off about a year ago. Unfortunately, everything else has gone to shit; there’s some severe gutter rash on the rear left wheel, the front bumper is ever-so-slightly ajar, one of the fog lamps doesn’t work, it almost constantly needs wheel alignments, the front left wheel bearing is fucked, the interior trim is literally falling to pieces, the rubber window surrounds are sun damaged and I even had to have the wing re-painted because the clear coat was bubbling as its previous owner parked it out in the fucking sun too often.

Also the number plate is embarrassing, but I haven’t changed it because it’s quite unique at least.

gotta say tho, XR6 looks real fucken nice in that colour. I woulda considered an XR6 BF or a VZ or VE SV6 but they're so fucken hard to find in manual

I actually really like the Holden VF and think that it’s the best car ever made in Australia, for its combination of style, quality, features and drive. It’s a shame that it took Holden until they were already on their death bed to make a properly good car. Ford Australia were hopelessly lost and running on borrowed time for decades. In case anyone needs clarification about my stance on the Ford AU, the AU is a massive in-joke in Australian car culture, because it was just so awful.

But yeah the Pontiac fascia on that ute and Monaro is fucking terrible. Not just the intake, but the bonnet vents too.

Many SS-Vs look hella gaudy because they have chrome on absolutely everything. Granted. This has chrome everywhere too, but it’s missing chrome (black-outs were a factory option) in a key place that makes all of the difference in the world - the brake vents. The omission of chrome surrounds from those vents gets the balance of subtlety and upmarket design perfectly right I reckon.

Best VFs are the SV6 Blacks though

Sort of. It's a two-stroke so you need to keep the gas on at all times and cannot release it in order to keep lubrication in the engine. Including downhill, meaning you'd have to use the brakes to fight the engine going downhill, which then causes them to boil over on even the most moderate downwards hill slope.
