I remember we used to play the Desert Combat mod for Battlefield 1942, 4 of us against a whole bunch of bots. The bots were incredibly stupid, but flying the helicopters was so much fun that it more than made up for it.

Hey, does anyone remember that map which had a sort of downtown setting, and there was an underground club with a DJ cabin where you could turn on the turntables and they'd play drum'n'bass loops?
It was what turned me on to D'n'B, but I never found out the names of the tracks...and now I can't find the map nor the samples anymore.

Either of the Battlezone games are good for lan parties. Both of them run on anything and the first one went freeware a few years ago.
FYI, the battlezone games are FPS/RTS hybrid games if you've never heard of them.

[B]Blur[/B] is pretty fun. It's essentially Mario Kart with real cars.
[B]Civilization V[/B]. Very fun for long-term, more laid-back LAN parties.
[B]Natural Selection 2[/B] (on the Humble Bundle) is great for a lan party.
[B]Just Cause 2[/B] has a multiplayer beta going on and that is great fun.
Played Rune's multiplayer mode at a lan once. Was fun as fuck.
