From my understanding imgur is essentially DDoSing 4chan with their userbase. I'm going to guess this isn't an entirely intentional thing, in that it was probably a particular imgur coder doing this without the consent of the company as a whole.

As long as a given monitor has 2 digital ports of any kind you can adapt it to HDMI with zero loss in quality. I have one straight HDMI and one HDMI>DVI-I.

They are basically the same pins and stuff so you usually get them for free with like monitor and graphics card purchases. You can get them for next to nothing on monoprice and stuff.
