It's pretty easy if you play on uh easy. In 3 they give you the EZ gun that never runs out of ammo and it's pretty much the best thing in the game.

When I was laid off, I was given a check for $219. I cash it
Then this check comes in with a paystub

Oh, that's not bad then. Pay cycles can be really weird and lead to situations like that but I'd get in contact with them when you can before you touch that check.
