For real though my favourite anime shows would probably be something like Steins;Gate, Spice and Wolf (although I prefer the source material for both of these), Fate/Zero, TTGL, FMA:Brotherhood, the Monogatari series.
Movie wise the ghiblis obviously, Ghost in the shell, Paprika, Time of Eve, Little Witch Academia, Kara no Kyoukai movies.

I'd like to recommend Steel Ball Run to people who usually don't like anime and stuff since it's mostly self contained and is a Western comic (as in cowboys and shit) but the final chapters with [sp]surprise guest ZA WARUDO wouldn't be such a surprise[/sp] or make much sense without reading the rest of JoJo
