Turns out CSGO doesn't read old demo files properly anymore and everything is fucked up when you try to play them back. So I guess there's not really any reason to keep them.

Not true.
There are cases where a foreigner somehow lands their asses on my server and can't understand the language so their confused asses can't understand the words I try to say to help them when they refuse to flash and overpower.
