Depending on the scene and the amount of people at the show, usually just the amount of people at a show, you can literally go into a show alone and leave knowing everyone there. Like a few weeks ago I went to a show where about 30 people were there and left befriending a bunch of them, including the band members who played.

this is the biggest thing that excites me about it on paper i just feel weird about it mostly because it's a show 3 hours away at a venue i've never even heard of let alone been to

You'll definitely wanna run a virus scan if you haven't already. That type of thing doesn't necessarily mean you got hacked, it just means you've got something weird going on that could easily be caused by malware.
