Don't worry one of my favorite genres, bedroom pop, has a very hated name within the community. Like some bands get very offended if you call them a bedroom pop band, while others do not mind it that much but still don't like the name. The problem is though that there is no real name for the genre because its encompassing of a bunch of shit. People sometimes call it lo-fi but then it gets mixed up with any other type of lo-fi music.

Would link a wikipedia page to the different names of "bedroom pop" but there isn't a wikipedia page on the genre. :v: Like the name literally just comes from many of the records being recorded in bedrooms, and the pop is just kinda arbitrarily thrown in there. The problem comes when bands get a studio album, which then makes both parts of the genre name untrue, leading to the controversy.

but music is a very personal experience for me so there's a lot of that stuff that plays into what i like and don't like

Ye there's been recent studies that show aspartame is actually no more terrible for you than regular sugar. Aspartame tastes pretty gross though, it's what gives diet soda the horrible aftertaste.

I totally agree. I like to think I'm not elitist about music at all and I definitely do not force what I listen to on others. Everyone is allowed to make their own choices when it comes to the type of entertainment they consume, and people shouldn't be judged because they like popular music, just like they shouldn't be judged if they like music no one has ever heard of.

Tbh I have never tried splenda so I do not know what is even in it. I just thought the name was funny when I was in 2nd grade, don't worry this account was not made when I was 8, and it just stuck for everything online related.

i don't really get why people actively avoid popular music
like yeah there's a lot of good artists out there that should get more recognition but that doesn't mean the popular artists aren't putting out great music

My main genre interests fall under berlin art music (like noise, noise techno, avant garde, and that type of shit most people say is not music), field recordings, punk rock, normal art music, some more contemporary classical pieces, and lofi/bedroom/whatever the fuck its called music. This is obviously leaving out a bunch of shit but you get the idea. I just tell people I listen to everything that they never knew existed because its easier.
In all honestly Yung Bae and Saint Pepsi are some good vaporwavish artist if you're into it.
