Got really confused for a second on my class list and almost dropped a class that I literally just got put in. Scary as shit because today was the last day to enroll in classes and if I dropped that class I would of been under units and would of been kicked out of the school. [editline]20th September 2015[/editline] Welp time to write a paper on how the goal of homosexual marriage and having children in the LGBTIAQ+ community is actually not constructive due to lots of reasons. (Don't worry I'm all for gay marriage and gay adoption of children/having children but it's a long story involving controversial documents and stuff.)
?????????
The paper is based off of this one paper about how the gay identity was a fabrication of the industrial age and people were not "gay" before the time of urbanization, in short this is due to reproduction being less of an affectual act and more of a necessity for having free labour on a farm, but once industrialization happened, living as a single person became feasible, and people were allowed to live based off of their desires rather than an instinctual survival basis. The paper also mentions how "affectual communities" need to be solidified in the queer society, and warned that marriage or other heteronormal things would lead to destroying the relatively recent "gay identity." I usually like to take positions on papers of the opposite of what I actually feel because it's more interesting to write imo, but in this case I kind of agree with the author on the whole gay identity thing. Like I'm obviously for gay marriage and having kids and stuff, this paper is for a fucking LGBT class after all, but it's just an interesting look on the subject. For example, even just a few decades ago the people campaigning for gay marriage were seen as a fringe group in the community, even by other activists. The paper was written in the 1980s too, so it's kind of a product of it's time. If you would of seen other papers I have written in the past, I have taken much more controversial stances on stuff just because I think it's fun to look at things in a different way than I usually do for a few pages.

The professor even told us before the reading was assigned that "We would be outraged by the paper the first time we read it, but after reading it a few times you will start to understand what the author is saying."

splenda for governor
i dont really have an interest in devil's advocate stuff b/c there's already enough people who think stupid stuff without any added reason to do so
splenda ur so brilliant
Awww thanks bb. [editline]20th September 2015[/editline]
i'm glad u specified this is the opposite of ur opinion because a lot of this is some of the silliest shit i've ever heard
You should of seen the lecture room when the professor was talking about it. Likes it's a lot more complicated than it being deconstructive, but if I were to explain everything I would just type my paper into facepunch. I just kind of worded it that way in my first post to make it seem humorous in an outrageous kind of way.
Yea its a kind of weird paper. The professor even told us before the reading was assigned that "We would be outraged by the paper the first time we read it, but after reading it a few times you will start to understand what the author is saying."
it's possible to understand exactly what someone is saying but also think it's really silly
it's possible to understand exactly what someone is saying but also think it's really silly
Yea and a bunch of people still think the paper is wrong. The beauty with academic papers is that they are usually just well researched opinions, and especially in this case, are not always right.
