Meh.
Holy shit, has anyone heard of the Action Half-Life map "AHL_5am"? Apparently, it's made by a possibly-fucked-up-in-the-head mapper. Every one of this guys maps contains a massive and complex easter egg. 5am is probably the most difficult one. The easter egg is a giant clock, with 12 rooms. After you solve the room at 1 o'clock, you go to 2 o'clock, and so on. It skips over 5 and 9, though. After you solve 12, it goes to 5. Apparently, 5 has been solved, but no one, no one, has gotten to 9am yet. This map has been out for over a decade. Here's the RPS article on it: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/03/31/action-half-life-the-5-a-m/ And here's the download: http://johnnythemidget.com/holdme/maps/Hondo_MapSource_2003-02-19_5am3.zip
I read that yesterday, I find it awesome how modders would put so much time in something that most of the players wouldn't even know about after having played the game for months.
I think we're talking about different ones because mine isn't scary at all.
I was talking about the one I posted earlier. [editline]20th April 2012[/editline] Anyway OT: Has anyone heard of the Halo ghosts? Supposedly if you play on a map alone on halo 2 or 3 you will encounter players that are faster and stronger. Here's the link: http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Ghosts_of_Halo
Here's something from that /r/creepygaming reddit
Oh, this is very good. I like it. It doesn't have most of the quirks some video game creepypastas have. Well maybe he could've refrained from pulling the "peeling off skin and realistic gibs" card. Maybe he could've said that the kid was going through the dragon death animation over and over again. still, very good find.
I always like stories like "now I know this game was detailed, but this seemed like EXTRA ATTENTION was paid to the wounds." At the developer's: "It seems like you haven't been putting all your effort into this, Dave." "Oh, well, I've just been spending time researching DEAD BODIES and WOUNDS for this creepy easter egg" "oh ok!"

Some could say they look TOO REAL."

We need to get a group of people together and figure this shit out. This really interests me.
I want to fucking solve this. We need to get a group of people together and figure this shit out. Mainly because I don't like the thought of humanity being defeated by a giant pear and a city-sized eyeball.
There's a few skyrim creepypastas rolling around, wrote this a while back convincing myself that it counted as studying for English.
I was stumbling home after a night out when something caught my eye. A small white object lay on the side of the path. Picking it up, I recognised it as a memory card. It seemed fairly clean and possibly still in working condition. I pocketed it on a drunken whim and continued home. Being at the stage of hungover where there’s little to be done but wait until everything’s out of my system; I sat down in front of the Xbox the next morning and picked up the controller. It was then that I noticed that the memory card I had found the night before was plugged in. I didn’t remember doing this, but considering the amount I had to drink, I wasn’t really surprised that this memory was lost to the night. Navigating with slight difficulty through the menus, I found the storage devices page, and clicked A on the memory card. The screen loaded showing it to be completely empty. I wasn’t sure exactly what I expected to find, but I can’t deny I was slightly disappointed at it being empty. Consoling myself with the fact that I had got a seemingly brand new memory card for free, I loaded up Skyrim. When the Main menu loaded, it asked me to pick a storage device. In my clumsy, hungover state, I chose the memory card by accident. I was about to switch devices when I saw the option “Continue”. I paused at this. I clicked the load screen to see the details of the saved game. Not much to it, a couple of hours gameplay, level 4. I reasoned that perhaps when I had checked the memory card earlier, a glitch had shown it to be empty. Satisfied with this explanation, I loaded the game out of curiosity. The game loaded at the front gate of Solitude, turning right, I saw the crowd watching the Nord get executed, indicating that this was the first time the previous player had entered the city. The crowd stood motionless, completely silent. The executioners and the prisoner were strangely still also. I wasn’t particularly surprised by this, given the buggy nature of the game, but as I jumped and ran around, trying to trigger the start of the execution scene, I noticed one of the NPC’s weren’t quite as motionless as I had previously thought. The prisoner was watching me. His head followed my movement as I bobbed around. I stopped and moved closer to him for a closer look. Strangely, this wasn’t the prisoner that was usually executed. He wasn’t even a Nord, he was a Redguard, who looked strangely familiar. As if some unseen signal had been made, the guard stood behind the Redguard, forcing him to his knees, the whole crowd, and the people on the platform remained completely silent throughout. Suddenly I realised that the Redguard was the exact same as the character in my saved game. The executioner let his axe fall and the Redguard’s head rolled about the platform. After a few more moments of utter silence, the crowd jolted to motion, behaving normally, they slowly left and continued with their lives. I was struck by a disquieting thought, quickly saved the game, and switched to the hard drive. My fears were confirmed. There was no load, or continue option, it seemed that my character had ceased to exist when he was killed in the other game. Needless to say I was slightly unnerved. I frantically tried to rationalise the situation. It seemed I was dealing with a memory card that had been tampered with, and had affected my hard drive. But why? I had no more patience for my hangover, and I tried to force my mind to think clearly. Without coming to any solid conclusion, I decided to take no risks. I removed my hard drive to prevent further damage, and for good measure, disconnected the wireless adapter. Although my paranoia might be assuaged for the moment, my curiosity was far from satisfied, I wanted to see how much the memory card had altered the game.
That was as far as I got before I kinda lost interest, any comments appreciated.
A bunch of face punchers have actually done this back when the article was first posted I think.
Unless they succeeded, it's got no bearing on us doing it again. If one of the original people wants to join it'd be helpful, though.
I wanna solve this shitty map too.

Or maybe that would be too cheesy. The idea isn't bad to be honest. [editline]21st April 2012[/editline] 5am was already solved it, I watched a commentary of it. Make sure none of the members of the expedition are vulnerable to seizures and try to find someone who's ready to [sp]spend half of the game staring at the bloody remains of a child instead of actually playing the game[/sp].
If you do please make a video :]
I don't have any kind of recording suite, or even a microphone worth using, but hopefully some other curious FPer does.
Lol u guys i hav dis crepy pasta that was writen by guy on forum who haznt posted since 2005, true stori
Once I found this memory card on the street or something. It was full of blood and had weird shit written on it, I dunno, I can't read. Plugged it in my xbox. Interface was fucked, I loaded my profile and my avatar had no arms, neat. No really, it looked fancy. Like super realistic and shit. It got boring already so I decided to play some GTA. Cool as usual except for this one guy who kept running after me with a chainsaw, which really I don't know where he found it because there are none in GTA 4. Also noticed the streets were empty. That's pretty good I hate pedestrians. Parked my car over the fucker and called it a day. Tried to go and do the missions, roman wouldn't stop calling me and speaking in this fucked up satanic voice, I guess it was a gimmick to get me to play his fucking bowling again, so I said no. Sometimes the streets would fill with a horde of people running in one direction, constantly pushing and shit. Got stepped on and died a couple of time, that was pretty funny to watch. Don't know what they were running from, I guess cops? Oh and there was also this one guy calling me over the phone and I couldn't close the call. That was pretty boring. Decided to shut down the game after a while because I missed the pedestrians, xbox message popped up saying "You can't run forever". Bitch, I'm not gonna play GTA for more than 4 fucking hours in a row. Went back today and the memory card was not there anymore, only a post-it saying "Watch your back". I was pretty sad it went missing because I had installed alien hominid on it after I stopped playing GTA 4.
I peed my pants lol
I could make a video, and Conro has been bugging me to. I'll think about it.
In the article, is the shit with the monochrome real? Anyone ever played the map?
I think it's real. My vision goes black and white if I just close my eyes for ten minutes or so, it'd be no surprise to me if a certain selection of colours used in a particular way could change the way you see things.

Why would that be a thing that you randomly do?
but really though, Hla_5am is a bad place to be, and it's extremely unrewarding.
When did you close your eyes for 10 minutes? Why would that be a thing that you randomly do?
well you know in books they always talk about those super-pleasant summer days spent on warm fields without a cloud in the sky? it was one of those days, and I was lying down with my eyes closed because it was really hot and the field was mowed the day before and I was so care-free I almost fell asleep
I want to fucking solve this. We need to get a group of people together and figure this shit out. This really interests me.
Can't you just noclip to see what each room is?
Can't you just noclip to see what each room is?
I thought the same thing though But the thing is that you'd probably have to the mystery in each room so the next room will load........or something
Can't you just noclip to see what each room is?
Depends on how the map is set up. He may have placed all the rooms super far apart from each other where it would become almost impossible to find them all. The other thing he could have done is surrounded each room with a teleporter so that if the player attempts to noclip out of it, it just teleports him right back to the center of the map or something.

Looks like the only way is to solve it is the old fashioned way.
