Also @ codemaster, don't you have pay-as-you-go plans where you are? I barely ever use my phone to message anyone, but it's pretty important to have one if you're out and need to contact someone.. $20 lasts me ages
They have those, but they make you buy 20$ worth a minutes a month, or they take away all the minutes. I had one for two months and didn't use it at all. [editline]14th April 2011[/editline] I am usually around a WiFi area all the time anyway.
You aren't even supposed to text in class. TL;DR for the OP Op texts in class when he shouldn't teacher takes it OP wonders why
Most teachers are pretty cool with this. Actually, I think every time I have seen this happen, the teacher didn't take the phone.
Yeah most, but I have this french teacher who at the slightest noise of a phone, even if it's just a battery dying, will say "TURN IT OFF OR IT'S MINE FOR THE DAY" And also a history teacher last year who would just look at you as if he was extremely disappointed in you for owning a phone.
Most of my teachers actually don't care if I text in class. Only two do, one's the Basketball coach which teaches my U.S. Government class, and one's my Art Teacher. As long as I'm doing work I'll usually just be texting and they won't say anything.
You really shouldn't be doing it anyway, its in the rules.
The point is though he doesn't have permission to look through my phone. Imagine going through airport security and the guy just starts looking through your messages. It just feels weird.
You didn't have permission to be using your phone in class. I think that's the point you're missing. You broke the rules.
Wow, really? Is texting not really that much of a social necessity these days that you people are so defensive of the teacher? It's annoying that teachers take up our phones, and yes they're doing their jobs, but texting in class isn't this horrible thing. How the fuck is it distracting anyway? Someone puts their hands in their purse, sends a message, and pulls out. Distracting? Really? If anyone's missing out on the lesson it's the student with the phone.
It's disrespectful, imagine you're trying to talk to someone but they're ignoring you and talking to someone else. Seriously if you don't respect them then why do you deserve anymore respect than you're giving them, treat others like you want to be treated.
ITT social outcasts ranting about texting to other people in class
Deal with it and stop using your phone in class.

God you're thick.
