like myfigurecollection has two main "build it yourself" categories, "Model Kit" and "Garage Kit".
I half assumed "model kit" is a mainline mass produced unassembled version, and "garage kit" is more like an indie version. although usually when you search the categories it's split between "inanimate object" and "waifu". although i never bothered looking the terminology up because i can never find a figurine of any of my waifus in the first place.
if you ever search "model kit" it's 99% of the time an inanimate object like a gundamn or chair,

~$50 with ~$25 shipping isn't too bad, but i agree may not be "cheap" to some/most people. then again the mecha kits usually range anywhere from $20-$500 + shipping so that's kind of moot
i did find a really rad "vash the stampede" garage kit that was ~8,000 yens once, but i legit did not have the time to build it and now i can't even find it again. it was like a bag full of uncolored parts of vash it was pretty hilarious

It's pretty incredible how many times they pull off the Sanae bread joke, and I still laugh every time.
