Gatchaman Crowds involves power armour, which falls into mecha by default. You can argue that magically created power armour isn't mecha but that is down to a matter of presentation and handling of the armour aspect.

Technically that's calling into the deifintion of /m/ rather than strict mecha. LoGH has power armour and if Harlock is anything like Galaxy Express 999 there are probably robots running around the place but I'd classify those three series strictly under sci-fi and not mecha unless you're willing to pull semantics. A mecha series has to have mecha as a focus. Simply having robots doesn't make it a mecha show.

anyway recommending those three anime to someone who is looking for mecha wouldn't be the worst thing, but then we get into semantics like you said.
I would list them under sci fi as main genre for those three anyways.

My expectations were probably a bit too high when i watched it. I waited for it to really get going but i felt like that never happened, didn't help much that the ending was kinda shitty too. Still an 8/10 tho imo.
