I dunno, it looks pretty standard art style to me. Name five anime made in the last two years where you have average or ugly young women as the dominant supporting cast. The one on the right there was specifically stated to be extremely young and green in her introduction too.
Second is that in one episode, they stop in a city and go on leave while resupplying. Apparently the person commenting cannot grasp the concept of sitting around and waiting to be repplied, or such things as being on leave. When you're resupplying you don't just sit around at base grumbling about the horrors of war.
Next complaint is complaining about a joke. Whatever.
Now here's the important part, the mecha in Argevollen are clunky pieces of shit. The Argevollen is extremely low-tier on the power scale. Your average M9 Arm Slave could easily beat it in a fight, it's probably on par with the grunts in A/Z, even if you shrunk down your average mobile suit, it'd rip its arms off and beat it with its own limbs. And that's just the Argevollen itself. The average Argevollen grunts are so damn low on the tier list they're barely even there. They are the epitome of clunky and they're barely high-tech at all. The Argevollen is powerful [I]relative[/I] to the clunky mecha, it's not like you threw a Gundam into a a game of Mechwarrior. Those idiots seem to think it's far more powerful than it actually is. This clunkiness and low power level is the [I]appeal[/I] of Argevollen's action, alongside things like combined arms and proper strategies and tactics. It's an actual military show for once, not just an excuse for a bunch of teenagers to fight in a war. Tokimune might be a rookie but he doesn't act like a teenager either.
I had a long paragraph pointing out how they fundamentally missed the point of the entire fucking battle, like how they're going to provide covering fire for the Argevollen while it charges across an empty area because otherwise even with it being as fast as it is, it isn't [I]that[/I] fast that it can dodge directly aimed artillery fire, so it'd be complete suicide. Among many other things.
And here's the thing: the army doesn't give a shit about the Argevollen. They don't go "wow, look at that gundamu, let's go make it do important things", they go "what is this stupid prototype you guys found that doesn't look anything like our units, what are we supposed to do with just this one unit that we can't even find spare parts for, whatever you can hold onto it now get it out of my face". It's only the MC's captain who sees it as being useful.
Episode 14: I'll be very non-specific but spoiler it anyway: [sp]The mecha they're fighting is fast. Stupidly fast compared to the average mook. The situation still suffers from nobody-can-aim syndrome but they don't seem to have noticed anything established in the previous episodes like how people have trouble aiming at other clunky mecha.[/sp]
Point is watch Argevollen yourself and don't listen to those idiots.

Did anyone else find this week's episode of Denki-gai a little more boring?
Man, I really want to know what the guys at A-1 were thinking when they put the script together for the im@s movie. Seven(!) new characters and five of them may as well be background extras, one is a comically unlikeable piece of shit (as in 'I could replace most of her lines with "Fuck you" and it would still make sense'), and the final girl barely gets enough development to justify her importance to the plot. Surely that just means the original cast will get more focus right? lolnope. Everyone beyond Haruka and [i]maybe[/i] Chihaya/Miki (who exist only as Haruka's support and foil respectively) might as well of not been there. I wouldn't even mind that if it was handled at all well, but a huge portion of the film is just Haruka being useless and wasting everybody's time. It doesn't even make sense considering she dealt with a similar situation easily in[sp]Chihaya's arc[/sp]of the tv series. Add in a side drama that goes nowhere, an okay concert scene, some [url=http://puu.sh/cxe8C/1b30f2a23e.webm]motherfucking rotoscoping[/url] and that's pretty much the movie in a nutshell.

You should include a caveat to that recommendation though. DDDDDDDDDDDDD is pretty light compared to the rest of his work because he wanted to draw something about cute girls doing shit for a change. Don't expect Punpun or Solanin.

I finally managed to finish Endless Eight. I want to die.
Seriously I cannot imagine how anyone managed to keep watching the show when it was airing, because this completely killed my desire to do so.
With the budget Kyoani wasted on the Endless Eight, most studios could fund an entire one-cours show.

I'm actually going to defend KyoAni's decision to make the Endless Eight.
It was a crazy, daring move and they actually went through with it. While I think 8 episodes was overdoing it, 3 or 4 would've been perfect in my opinion.
If nothing else, it forever cemented Haruhi's place in the anime annals. Seriously, no anime ever is going to have the same fucking episode repeated eight times. EVER.
Being special doesn't make it less blindingly stupid.

endless 8 was ONE CHAPTER of the light novel, they made one chapter into 8 episodes, unique? yes. stupid as all hell? also yes.
