Because 99% of the population don't have a good enough DAC and pair of headphones capable of making the difference noticeable.
Once you do, you can easily tell the difference.
Saying there's no discernible difference in audio quality between the two is like saying that there's no discernible difference between gaming at 60 FPS at 720P and gaming at 120FPS 1080P, because you have a 720P monitor with a refresh rate of 60hz and have never used anything better.
