KnK was fantastic
KnK was good but I wouldn't call it fantastic
KnK was fantastic
dude you fuckin called k-on a 10/10 sorry your shit taste is terminal.
KnK was fantastic
why was it fantastic what noteworthy aspects are there to it
Mentioning anything related to KyoAni seems to trigger everyone in this thread to flip their shit
Finally able to watch the Gurren Lagann movies. Watching Gurren-hen (Childhood's End) with my sister right now. Anime LTD did a good fucking job with the BDs holy shit this looks great.
why was it fantastic what noteworthy aspects are there to it
the animation, characters and music basically anything kyoani is 10/10 because the fantastic production values cancel out the need for anything else
I don't think you know what 10/10 means.
Are you guys gonna argue about number scales for 5 pages again? I'm gonna go get the popcorn ready.
Woah mate. I'm a diehard KyoAni fan as well, but I think that's going a bit too far.
I don't think you know what 10/10 means.
10/10 to me means i enjoyed 100% of it, didn't dislike any of it, no issues whatsoever, all good
But the entire second season (of K-On) was ass
But the entire second season was ass
KnK had a s2? Are you from the future? [editline]2nd November 2014[/editline] Now I'm confused who's talking about what, this is why you always quote your shit
KnK had a s2? Are you from the future?
I thought he was talking about K-On I can't into read
Oh god I got to Ren's [sp]VA can't yell[/sp] moment in C3-bu. That felt very silly.
Aaand Gurren-hen/Childhood's End is done. Time to watch Akame and Grisaia while my sister watches the Grand Prix, then we're straight into Lagann-hen/The Lights In The Sky Are Stars These BDs were worth the wait. Both of the waits.
But the entire second season (of K-On) was ass
Other than the new character it was literally just more of the same tho.
Other than the new character it was literally just more of the same tho.
That's pretty much why it was ass.
Also, I really like the way Akame Ga Kill manages to make pretty much every enemy look OP as hell, then proceeds to be all "Nah, JK, the MC's aren't stupid"
That's pretty much why it was ass.
Asuza isn't nearly as bad as people say imo.
Other than the new character it was literally just more of the same tho.
That's what made it so wonderful
Other than the new character it was literally just more of the same tho.
Do you mean Ton-chan because Azusa has been there since halfway into the first season.
Asuza isn't nearly as bad as people say imo.
Oh no I wasn't referring to Azusa (though she was in season 1 anyway?). It's mainly her fandom that makes her terrible. But apart from her literally nothing changed. Nothing interesting happened. That is why it was ass.
I just didn't like how it became less music focused as the show went on. I dropped it mid 2nd season because I got so bored of just watching girls eat cake and drink tea without any musical plot whatsoever. The first season usually at least had music as a background theme in most episodes, along with a a person who was new to music which allowed them to have a decent amount of plot and character development. In the second season, it feels like they were never working toward anything.
But apart from her literally nothing changed. Nothing interesting happened. That is why it was ass.
Basically this. It's one of the two shows I just completely dropped due to pure apathy- the other being Golden Time at like episode 22.
Oh no I wasn't referring to Azusa (though she was in season 1 anyway?). It's mainly her fandom that makes her terrible. But apart from her literally nothing changed. I found k-on to be extremely boring but i only watched one episode.
What exactly did you expect from the second season after watching the first season? Was your expectations really that high?
I didn't expect anything. Which is exactly why I dropped that shit.
What exactly did you expect from the second season after watching the first season? Was your expectations really that high?
That's a terrible excuse. It's like pardoning Duke Nukem Forever because it could never live up to the precedent set by the earlier installment. I expect a show to maintain some modicum of quality if it's greenlit to keep airing past the first season. They could have easily played on the "We want to play at 'x' concert, so let's practice" to develop a plot, but KyoAni they just went "fuck it, we're making money anyway."
Are you guys gonna argue about number scales for 5 pages again? I'm gonna go get the popcorn ready.
excuse me i believe we all agreed that 7 pages is the average
10/10 to me means i enjoyed 100% of it, didn't dislike any of it, no issues whatsoever, all good
Ah. The "the fantastic production values cancel out the need for anything else" part made me think you meant "who care's if it's missing some other things like a logical plot or fleshed out characters, if it has a lot of money in the animation it's good". To clarify, I don't really have many issues with KnK's plot - minus the ending whiplash, of course - but to be honest, the characters often felt underdeveloped. Like the main character Aki. "I love glasses!" Then we learn more about him. He's afraid of himself because [sp]of that whole 'turns into a demon' thing[/sp]... but he also really loves glasses. They go into his room at one point [sp]because he's comatose or whatever[/sp] and go through some of his stuff, and we learn... he really fucking loves glasses. I know they play it sort of for laughs, but they rely on it too much, even during serious scenes. Or his mother - yeah, we get it, she's wacky, but [sp]the town is being absorbed by Aki's demon side[/sp], can you please act a little more seriously? And Mirai's tumblr or whatever. It's a gag that they bring up just a few times, but it could have been fleshed out a little bit more so we could learn more about what she's like. But they don't, they keep it as a gag. To sum up what I mean: they give hints of hidden depths and extra personality traits, but we never really learn more about the characters outside of just the surface and their story related to the plot. It's like "Here's my tragic backstory." "Aww. How sad." "I also have a website!" "Ooh, I would like to see that!" "404 details not found" They only use the character quirks for gags instead of fully fleshing out the characters beyond just the basics they need for the plot. Don't get me wrong, the characters definitely feel more fleshed out compared to most other anime. The thing is, I would be okay with this if they didn't make a point of mentioning "you need to flesh out your characters" in one of the early episodes, and if they didn't bring up the gags during serious moments rather than the quirk beyond the gag. Like when Aki [sp]goes off to save Mirai in the end[/sp], he says something along the lines of "I would do anything for glasses! I'm a pervert!" I know he's saying it half-jokingly, but it still feels kind of off to me. Sure, I just posted a huge rant about the characters, but I would still rate it roughly 8/10. It's just not 10/10.
the animation, characters and music basically anything kyoani is 10/10 because the fantastic production values cancel out the need for anything else
the characters were fantastic because [kyoani] and i really liked [x] the music was fantastic and [meshed really well] with the scene where [x] you seem to enjoy shows that are good simply for having more money thrown at them. Appreciating the work that is required in making something look pleasing is fine; but i'm sorry to inform you that gold painted shit is still just shit in the end. it didn't really innovate at all and just settled with throwing budget at bad script to fix it. then again i stopped watching it somewhere around episode 7 because i was completely bored with it. winner told me a while back that it supposedly picks up after episode 8, but by that point i wanted nothing to do with the series any more. the animation was certainly above average but not "fantastic". the only reason why you might think it looks good is because kyoani deforms their characters to the point so that it would make a larger impact. since i never was taught animation terms, the most i can describe it as it that most of the characters have a child as their animation base; large sweeping motions and quick jabs make up most of their movements. it certainly fits kyoani's artstyle well, so there's nothing inherently wrong with it, but it still annoys me. hell, most of the hair was terribly animated as well. it'll usually have a quick burst of animation to show that it was affected by something, and then immediately go back to being completely lifeless. Obviously animating hair of all things is a waste of budget and it's better used on other parts of the scene, but if what you're saying is true and kyoani's production values are through the roof then kyoani's hair should be more than lifeless most of the time. Just go back and compare a typical episode of KnK with the first box of goblins clip i posted earlier (which is made by madhouse, who also has a pretty massive budget for most series)(ignore the dancing one... i posted that because it had bad animation). The hair has subtle movement when they move, and when there's large movement the hair has large movement. This is probably why kyoani has short hair for almost all of their characters, and the characters that have long hair barely move when they're on screen. And if they do move their hair moves in large erratic chunks. sorry for making such a large post on this, but it annoys me whenever i try to have a discussion in this thread and the most i usually receive back is "it's good because it's good and you're dumb because you're dumb" :^)
