Truly the best way to play X-Com is to give your soldiers FA names.
i named a heavy-class soldier takane "moongirl" shijou once and she became an unstoppable force even without being augmented or using psionics the aliens weren't l@dy for her
I guess I know what I'm doing for my next X-Com playthrough.
anybody know if Coppelion lives up to its... opening? :^) just played it on osu and it was so hype is the series any good at all
I know I'm hella late on this, but I was literally the most avid Coppelion apologist in the thread back when it was airing and am probably the only person in this thread who watched it the whole way through. Even I was making fun of it going into episode 6. Just look at some screenshots of random episodes and listen to the OP/ED. Bam, you've done all you possibly can to enjoy the show. Apart from its music and scenery porn, it's fucking godawful. The leader of the group is Mary-sue "I'm good at everything" as all hell, and one of the two sidekicks is a shoehorned useless piece of comedic trash whose only character development is being depressed and eating cake while locking herself away in a store room while everyone else does important things. Then, once she's back in action [sp]Lol godpowers for no reason or explanation. They didn't even try to hide the Deus Ex Machina.[/sp] Basically ends up being the whole "you thought she was useless, but she's the most powerful of them all!" crap. Then there's the main baddies of the season: a bunch of actually cool and somewhat interesting military types with an insane general angry with the world leading them. But nah, let's forget about them because these [sp]TWO TWINS FROM YOUR CLASS ARE SUPER EVIL TOO![/sp] And then the military guys aren't a real threat after that. So now you have these [sp]two girls, one a railgun ripoff and the other with super strength[/sp] trying to fuck up the 3 MCs plans because they want to watch the world burn because they're crazy and mad at existing. But, y'know, you can explain away inherited chronic mental illness and have the [sp]sisters[/sp] "redeem" themselves at the end because emotions and love. They also use the "woman going into labor in a post apocalyptic environment" trope to create forced suspense and plot and fuckity fuck fuck there's so much more but I can't be arsed to label every single issue with this show.
My best soldier right now is Reds stuffed into a mecha armor. Orkel had one too but he got one-shotted by a zombie.
Orkel had one too but he got one-shotted by a zombie.

Orkel died in the first game tragically
orkel seems to be very good at dying
From the very first episode of Psycho-Pass Tsunemori has always been the voice of reason and she even had to shoot Kougami in the very first episode because he wanted to kill the victim, I don't know what you're talking about. It's not hard to understand why people in the series would rely on Sibyl over their own second doubts. I accept the actions because I don't know what the remaining 7 episodes are about. The first half of S1 was more typical criminal investigation and then it started ramping up.
And what part about the victim already being a criminal do you not understand? And what part about knowing what the fuck is going on before you do something rash do you not understand? In S1 they're dealing with people that have already committed some sort of crime that they are aware of, thus relying on Sibyl's judgement is not a hard call, it is a criminal and this is the action to take, that's how our system works, we are the police and act against criminals. It's simple and straightforward, anyone can be onboard with that, Tsunemori just finds that too simplistic and wants to know more about the circumstances, especially when the criminal seems to be part of a bigger picture and wants information from them. The reason she's continues to act that way and not conform to the system is because [sp]she never gets clouded, her actions that go against the system never has any consequence for her, so where everybody else is forced by the system to do as it says, Tsunemori can act on her own feelings of justice, because she won't lose her job and/or life as a consequence[/sp]. In S2, again, yet another repeat, we're dealing with [sp]civilians that are clouded from stress levels, not from any clear comittment of crime, because they know jack shit about what's going on. Despite knowing fuckall about anything they shoot blindly into a closed space, as the whole fucking thing is opening up allowing them to understand the situation, where their own goddamn officer that they can't contact is in. They know the place is filled with civilians that are getting clouded from stress, they know that their own police officer is inside and they know that they have no idea what is going on, and the girders are opening up. Despite all of these factors, they decide to shoot because the gun tells them so, like they were all fucking robots that can't think for themselves[/sp] I honestly don't understand how you can accept such shit writing on the basis of a deus ex machina excuse (Sibyl). The first half of S1 was more typical crime investigation, the first 4 episodes of S2 is a CSI knockoff and the plot is already revealed. S1 was 22 episodes long. S2 is going to be 11 episodes long. the only way i will consider something to be a csi knockoff is if there's a large focus on semen-based investigation

Trunk Monkay, could you link me to the link you get from the SHARE button on google docs? The current link is completely locked, meaning I can't copy from tables, I have to copy the actual text, copy pasting from it is the worst thing I've ever experienced. Have you started reading Kamisama no Iutoori II yet? It's not finished but actively updated once every 1-2 weeks or so
igamiwarr Psycho-Pass is a thriller, not a drama. You will have to re-vote or withdraw that vote. Ping Pong's drama is inherent to being a sports (competetive) show, it's not actually a drama. You will have to re-vote or withdraw that vote.
Turns out I most definitely never watched past railgun s ep 8 because I watched the whole thing and it was amaz Like holy shit that was good. The second half was ANIME as fuck but still very enjoyable in its own way if you just pretended it was part of a different show Idolm@ster movie was a m@sterpiece even though all the new characters were literally walking plot devices I pay my respects to the hundreds of koreans who gave their lives in the process of inbetweening and rotoscoping Rokujouma no shinryakusha was p good ghost best girl

It was intentionally made to be 'drama + sports" as compared to "sports + comedy" or "sports" only. you could say that for a few, but when the author goes out of his way to make it much more dramatic, it should count as a drama
PLEASE NOT AGAIN [editline]3rd November 2014[/editline] sports anime aren't about sport
Here we gooooo.

Just withdraw the votes that you disagree with, I don't want to start some dumb anime argument.

Just withdraw the votes that you disagree with, I don't want to start some dumb anime argument.
There are no other shows you would vote for in those categories now that you have a new open spot?
what sports may have drama just due to the competitive nature, but it's fairly obvious the drama of a usual sports anime/manga is nowhere near this level. It was intentionally made to be 'drama + sports" as compared to "sports + comedy" or "sports" only. you could say that for a few, but when the author goes out of his way to make it much more dramatic, it should count as a drama
Sports have drama because pursuing sports is hard and tough, it's a competetive environment that gives a lot of room for self-doubt. If you removed the Ping Pong sport from Ping Pong the drama would also go away, because the drama comes from the sport itself. The drama is inherint to it being a sports show, a show wouldn't be labeled sports if it didn't follow one or several people pursuing a career in sport and showing the character-drama that comes from taking that life-choice. Without the sport there would also be no drama. It's not drama from an exterior source, it's not a feud between people or companies, it's not about dealing with tragic events or anything like that. It's about dealing with themselves and the problems they have in relation to the sport. Ping Pong is a show about ping pong and growing up, all dramatic events are character driven and reflective of their attitude to the sport and what it brings with it. If you removed the school setting from Clannad it wouldn't stop it from being a drama, it could just as well have happened at a job, or maybe they were a gang or, anything really. The drama comes from life events that are irrelevant to what they are currently doing. The drama in ping pong could only happen if they were interested in a sport. If you removed their interest in a sport you would also remove the drama that was caused by it. In Clannad you have to remove the people and their past to remove the drama. In Ping Pong you only have to remove the sport.
sports anime aren't about sport
If sports anime were about the sport they would just show you a bunch of random people playing the sport and interviews. a.k.a sports television.
