Just because it's not in space doesn't make it not scifi. It's mostly based on real science [sp]except cantus obviously[/sp] which is literally the qualifier for what is and isn't scifi. And it's damn good scifi too, the only things I can compare it to is Ringworld and some of Foundation. Those are a little bit better in my opinion but they're also novels and I haven't read SSY so it might actually stand up.
