usually the animes are used to promote the original work
like bahamut was made to promote a shitty social mobile card game
and i assume they're going to make lodes of figures of various female cast members like that one demon dog girl
or chihayafuru was mostly made to promote the manga and even got a second season even though sales for season 1 were abysmal because it did such a good job of promoting the mango

Man the Grisaia adaption is such bullshit, it took the scene in michiru's route that literally yesterday had me actually crying quite heavily, and made it completely impactless.

I never get when people say this, I watched the tsukihime and fate/stay night anime before i read the vns and the anime still disappointed me.
some goes for tokyo ghoul for a more recent example. Bad anime are bad even if you don't know the source, knowing the original just means you know HOW bad it is.

Well yeah, but those are just bad. I'm enjoying Grisaia, I don't think it's bad as it is, but everyone who's played the VN is bitching about how terrible it is because it's been cutting everything. Since I don't know what's been cut, I judge it as an anime, not as an adaptation compared to the source material, and so far as an anime it's pretty good.
