Psycho-Pass S2 ep 5 wasn't as bad as it sounded.
They did go over the whole [sp]"kill all the victims running out"[/sp] thing a bit. They didn't mention [sp]any punishments for the inspectors or enforcers in Division 3[/sp], but this IS Sibyl we're talking about. And they did make [sp]Division 3 seem like a bunch of assholes in this episode. I noticed they even gave one of the inspectors those goddamn "Gamer Glasses", although that may be unintentional.[/sp]
Of course, there's still problems, like how even if it IS Sibyl, there should still be [sp]at least SOME punishment or something.[/sp]
And the [sp]robot drones being controlled by an iPhone game[/sp] is sort of ridiculous, but hopefully it turns out that [sp]it's one of Kamui's allies that programmed it, rather than him being a transplant surgeon AND a hacker and game programmer.[/sp]
Honestly, the biggest part that's bugging me about that is [sp]how the environment in-game is somewhat different from real life. How would you make the map have random changes without it just completely ignoring the environment at some point?[/sp]
It's gotten somewhat better from episode 4, but it's not completely back.
It'll never hold up to season 1, of course.
I disagree that episode was worse than 4, and 6 was worse than 5.
holy fuck was 6 bad.
Can someone help me out here real fast?
Still kinda empty feeling after finishing Steins;Gate (it's been 48 hours, normally this would have gone away but this anime in particular seems to have really hit home for me) so could someone recommend me something a bit, er, more light-hearted?
Now I'm gonna catch some flak for this but there is one small criteria that the anime needs to fill (I admit this is really picky but it's just kinda how I work), I can only really get into an anime if the art style is semi-realistic and grounded. I'm talking proportions of the characters here. I don't know why, but even if a show is hailed for being amazing, if something is too far off in the art style I cannot get into it (looking at you Code Geass, everyone being ultra tall and skinny with gigantic eyes just turned me off of it).
That said, anyone got anything up my alley? Action and stuff is fine, I just need something that won't put more holes in my soul.

So Ra No Wo To, though it left a hole in my soul knowing it'll never get a Season 2.
Is that a threat, Tomino

Maybe I would have disliked 5 more if I didn't read the spoilers for it and get my hopes down.
Sort of the opposite of hype.
Meanwhile: I'm 3 minutes into the latest Yuki Yuna and there's some [sp]shit going down with them losing certain body functions like sight and voice.[/sp] Knock on wood, but I really hope that this is where the show takes a darker turn rather than [sp]"We went back to normal after a week yaaaay" like they're saying is going to happen.[/sp]
Edit:
[sp]Good, it looks like they're taking this seriously. I was wondering when all of the flags were going to catch up.
Yuki Yuna is now an anime about what it's like to be a war veteran.[/sp]

Well this episode of Yuki Yuna was just...
You'll have to see for yourself.
Watching Yuki Yuna is basically just sticking your head in through the doorway and going "is it madoka yet".
Yuki Yuna feels much more [sp]engaging and gripping[/sp] than Madoka for me, personally.
In Madoka [sp]once Mami dies it's pretty clear that there's suffering ahead, and it never stops[/sp]
In Yuki Yuna [sp]the author is juggling deathflags like a circus performer, and the dissonance between this episode's revelations and the girls still getting on with their lives makes me feel incredibly uncomfortable. Especially since the disabilities are all based on what the girls loved: Itsuki loved to sing, Fuu was a leader and kept watch over everyone, Togo was the person who listened to everyone's problems and Yuna, uh, well Yuna loved sweets I guess. Every episode is just "PLEASE DON'T GET WORSE OH GOD OH GOD" as opposed to "Well let's see how worse this is gonna get" I felt when I was watching Madoka.[/sp]
[editline]14th November 2014[/editline]
Maybe it's because I didn't watch Madoka when it was airing and marathoned it, who knows.
[editline]14th November 2014[/editline]
I'm probably gonna resume Killing Snook out of respect for the author now.
What the hell kind of title is "killing snook".

[sp]Yuna's fairy loved to eat, too. Sure, they all lost their fairies, but I'm not sure what else they could really take away from her.
And Karin was the only one who didn't lose anything, which is works as being the worst thing she could lose: her honor. Of course, they went over this in the episode, so yeah.
I do find myself wondering "WHY AREN'T ANY OF THESE CHICKS DEAD YET" a lot. Even now, when it's clear that shit is happening, they've still left it open-ended. "Maybe it'll go away in a week!", although obviously a flag for "no it ain't", they've dodged most of the other flags. Plus, they've only lost some of their senses/functions. Togo can still hear in one ear, Fu can still see with one eye, taste isn't really that bad of a thing to lose compared to the others, and Itsuki... well, she has a notepad, and she mostly just agreed with Fu anyway.[/sp]
I really do have to praise the subtlety of what's happened so far compared to trying to straight out copy Madoka. Daybreak Illusion tried to be edgier than Madoka, and it just ended up, well, uh, bad. And they barely even took their edginess seriously, like with how [sp]werewolf girl turned back to normal, main girl turned out fine, and dead girl came back to life.[/sp]
You know, Yuki Yuna really reminds me of Rinne no Lagrange. Especially the OPs.

It reminds me of Gainer's remarks at the end of King Gainer's recaps, or Hime giving her opinion or speculation on the events of the previous episode in Brain Powerd.
I finished rewatching Hidamari Sketch S1 last night. It was a magical experience. My life is forever changed.

Episode 6 can't be as bad as 4 if only because it had less Mika being insufferable.

[sp]I really hoped Tsunemori will do "I DIDN'T HAVE GUTS TO SHOOT MAKISHIMA, I WON'T DO THE SAME MISTAKE TWICE" and then it went
Tougane: No Tsunemori, I will do it, it's Enforcerers job
Tsunemori: No I won't let you do it either.
Also what was the deal with Tougane's "I'll make it darker than black"[/sp]
[sp]It was already established that Tsunemori won't kill when she arrested Makishima at the top of the tower in season 1 instead of bludgeoning him.[/sp]

This is the reason why I basically only watch shows filled with moe girls that have around a 7.5 rating on MAL
no more soul holes for me
Maybe it's because I didn't watch Madoka when it was airing and marathoned it, who knows.
Nothing will ever recreate the experience that it was to watch Madoka as it was airing.
The pre-season "Hey look SHAFTs gonna make a magical girl anime, neat."
Seeing the character designs being posted on /a/, being interested in what kind of SHAFT-shenanigans SHAFT was going to pull.
Finding out Urobuchi Gen was the script writer.
"I have been entrusted with the formidable task of series composition and script for all episodes. Although having director Akiyuki Shinbo and Ume Aoki-sensei as teammates puts a great deal of pressure on me, I will do my best to deliver a heartwarming, happy story to our viewers!" - Urobuchi Gen
[sp]
"It's time to recognize me as a healing-type writer."
"It's disappointing that my new anime is [getting] called 'Chidamari (blood puddle) Sketch'."
"I want to make the audience happy by the anime."
- Urobuchi Gen
Hmm...[/sp]
...
"Wow neat these witches have a really cool art style sasuga SHAFT"
Episode[sp]3 at the time was seriously like, a complete "did that just fucking happen what the fuck did I even watch" moment
iirc the BDs had some major scene re-draws, as per SHAFT's usual routine, and I know some of the early scenes had some fairly big changes in tone vs the TV airing versions
At the time when it happened, imo it really wasn't foreshadowed at all and it completely blindsided me. Absolutely none of the promotional artwork implied that the show was going to be anything but a normal MG show. Even the OP doesn't accurately reflect anything that actually ends up happening. The only warning at the time was Urobuchi being the writer, but no one knew exactly how he was going to go about despairing everything up, or when. You had no idea what the fuck was gonna happen from week to week, and p much everyday on the week on /a/ you had massive speculation/fan-theory threads trying to predict what was going to happen in the next episode.[/sp]
The show has a major reputation now, and that inevitably colors your expectations that makes it hard to reproduce how exciting the show was when it first aired. You'd have to be watching it with very little prior knowledge of anime as one of your first shows to really feel the impact now, though even then it's not quite the same, because it's harder to appreciate what Madoka was doing without having watched at least a few magical girl animes (Namely Nanoha, since Akiyuki Shinbo [del][sp]constructed and deconstructed magical girl anime[/sp][/del] directed both Nanoha and Madoka), and you're usually not going to be watching magical girl animes when you're just starting out unless you have irredeemable autism.
It's really hard to reproduce the hype without the context it aired in.

Even better: unwatch the whole anime and pretend it never existed.
First 2 episodes were p good, how did it go so wrong.
Yep, Parasyte is definitely getting dumber.
Psycho Pass 2 continues to be really stupid, this show is fucking killing me.
Well, you could not watch it since you're not enjoying it, but then you wouldn't get to bitch about it in Fast Anime.
Yep, Parasyte is definitely getting dumber.
Care to elaborate? this is the part of Parasyte that's LESS dumb lmao. All you've done is bitched about Parasyte without explaining why you think it's bad, if you're going to have a dissenting opinion you gotta at least write a dgg-post about it to justify yourself.
Well, you could not watch it since you're not enjoying it, but then you wouldn't get to bitch about it in Fast Anime.
As a psycho-pass s1 fanboy I must watch s2 to bitch about it, it's law.
