I hate it whenever anything does the "so hero you can save the world/a vast number of people or you can save this one guy" "I PICK THE ONE GUY" thing. That's not heroic, that's outright selfish and blindingly short sighted. The fact that the plot always contorts to make it the correct decision is annoying.
I feel like its less of a message to eva fans and more of an overall message to all otaku, basically telling them to grow the fuck up and become responsible adults
