Spirited Away -> Elfen Lied -> Popotan -> Bleach -> A couple of other Miyazaki films (don't remember which) -> Zero no Tsukaima I think that's as much as I can remember from the order of my first animes. Since it was 2004-2005
Miyazaki to ZnT is one hell of a transition I should rewatch ZnT though, I vaguely remember the first two seasons actually being pretty good, the second in particular then the third season shit the bed with elftits and relationship reset button and the fourth season doesn't exist
Azumanga Daioh > Love Hina > possibly Elfen Lied? > Dominion Tank Police > Evangelion from what I remember
SAO->Madoka->Black Rock Shooter->Steins Gate I'm so new it hurts EDIT: Nanoha and FMA:B should be in there somewhere too according my MAL. I know I watched mushishi straight after nanoha too.
it's been so long and I've seen so many shows I couldn't say what my first anime was, but I know I watched Love Hina in super low quality on some shitty streaming website with my cousin on his windows 98 laptop at some point.
oh are we doing the "what was your first anime" discussion again NGE > EoE > TTGL > K-ON! > Rebuild 2.0 > Gurren-hen > Love Hina > K-On! Ura-On! > Rebuild 1.0 > Love Hina specials > FLCL > Kimi ni Todoke
King of the Hill. and nothing else.
Well, I watched a bunch of the typical stuff when I was a kid, Digimon, DBZ, etc, but I don't really consider stuff like that gateway shows. The thing that got me into anime and manga properly was [sp]MAR[/sp] which was my favourite show when the dub was airing, and as a result of the dub being cut short it made me try to find the manga, the first thing I bought to completion. Never really got into anime besides a few movies even though I bought a bunch of different manga over the years, fast forward a few years and after making my way through a bunch of gaijin animation, Wakfu, and some karate bugmen I went "wait, why the fuck haven't i watched any anime in years" and decided to start. Then I watched [sp]SAO[/sp] and that got me back in and then I watched whatever.
dragon ball z + dragon ball, then a bunch of ghibli films, and then cowboy bebop were my first animes ever I can't remember in what order everything else came in at, but at this point I watch so much anime / read so much manga I don't even think it matters.
Who the hell watches slice of lifes as your first animu anyway, how do you guys even exist
oh wait, digimon was the SHIT when I was younger. I still remember the original series and movie vividly. Pokemon took a backseat to it even [editline]21st December 2014[/editline] Still, DBZ was the hottest shit for everyone when I was a kid if I remember correctly. Literally everyone I knew in elementary and middle school loved it to death as well.
Speaking of movies that I watched in my interval period, I really need to watch the other Vampire Hunter D movies. [editline]22nd December 2014[/editline] I need to watch more movies in general. I find it harder to get hyped for movies and very short OVAs because I don't like the feeling of "this was really great, there is no more of it".
who else here watched fuckin Medabots as a kid, that was a great show. it's just pokemon/digimon with robots but it never felt like it was just trying to sell me something *cough bayblades cough*
Ghost In the Shell movie really got me into anime
Speaking of movies that I watched in my interval period, I really need to watch the other Vampire Hunter D movies.
I've only seen the original and the ~1990-2000 one, are there more?

Not that the dub is bad or anything but they've got some weird shit going on with the episode ordering. The new Digimon series is gonna be weird if it has a budget. It's just not the same if it doesn't have the stock footage evolutions taking up five minutes of the episode before stock footage battles ensue. [editline]22nd December 2014[/editline]
I've only seen the original and the ~1990-2000 one, are there more?
Five seconds in Google shows that it looks like there's just the 1985 one and the 2000/Bloodlust one, and I've only seen Bloodlust. I just kind of assumed there was more based on a faulty memory. Wikipedia mentions that in 2010 they were planning to make a full series which would have been pretty damn cool. I imagine that nothing came of that. [editline]22nd December 2014[/editline] Huh, I didn't know it was a novel series, I always thought it was a manga. If Juuni Kokuki, Seirei no Moribito, LOGH, and some others that are prominent examples but I can't remember off the top of my head are any indication, it's that anime adaptions of novels can be pretty damn good.
Dude the original is really fucking cool. Loads better than the second IMO, they were a lot more serious with the characters and whatnot also the fight scenes seem a lot more tense and less gimmicky.
Guess I'll have to bump it up my schedule. I remember Bloodlust being pretty serious though, although I can't really remember any of the fights. That one group of monster hunters didn't seem terribly good at their job for guys that were supposed to be top-notch though.
So I haven't played Grisaia, but here's my guess before reading earlier spoilers, and hell even after it doesn't change any of this guess, of what happens next episode: [sp]The creepy dude was her old teacher, and he lived. He's still trying to kill her for seeing him fuck the president. He shows up as they find Kazuki's box and Yuuji kills the fuck out of him. Then I think there's going to be some kind of direct, definitive indication that Kazuki's alive at the end of the next EP, regardless of if they actually meet her or not.[/sp]
vn spoilers [sp]iirc it was one of the daughter's fathers. i think it was the president's/captain's father. all I remember is the hilarious art for when the teacher is fuckin the one girl[/sp]
Huh, I didn't know it was a novel series, I always thought it was a manga.
Yeah I found a couple of them at a local Discount bookstore of all places. they are pretty good reads and a lot of them seem to be translated into eng.
Gundam Wing and Dragonball z where my first
The episode count is a bit daunting for some (and thus is subject to being on people's backlogs for a while), and a lot of people don't like to watch pre-2000 anime that aren't movies for some reason. I would've have voted for it but I didn't start watching it until the OP poll was over.
IFGHTGHGDSIOJSAODINASLDKWMELKMWAS I'm sorry what? Seriously the first 13 episodes have more depth and story in them alone then what people assume to be as good a Evangelion. Not going to lie, kinda mad right now. LoGH is like a good beer you just want to watch one more, then you realize it is through. [editline]22nd December 2014[/editline] also serious question: Why is there not a anime subforum in the TV/Movie forum?
wouldn't be enough activity, probably
wouldn't be enough activity, probably
Compared to the activity given of that subforum it would be a breath of air to it.
selector spread wixoss's full op is neat as expected, them vocals and cello tho the s2 finale was decent i guess
that is true, and it would be funny to see some people get really mad at it. it is probably not going to happen, though
fast anime is only as active as it is because all the discussion is in one thread if it was a sub forum you'd have like, 15 threads with 3 posts in each or something [editline]22nd December 2014[/editline] unless there was a thread about some really stupid argument then that'd probably be 99% of the posts on that subforum
