So apparently Digimon Season 1 is getting remade.
I know South Park is done in Maya, so I do have to ask- what do anime studios actually use? I can't imagine it being Photoshop or Flash, there's probably some obscure $6000 software suite out there
Did some searching and two names that popped op frequently were RETAS and Toonz. Some of the info is a bit outdated, but I think it's safe to say that it should still be applicable to some extend. RETAS!PRO HD- Revolutionary Engineering Total Animation System (hillarious name imho ) (wiki|site) Developed in Japan. One of the largest and apparently the leading software suites when it comes to animation in japan. It's used by well over 100 animation studios including Toei Animation, Sunrise, JC Staff, Bones and Shin-Ei Animation. Rendered animations can be exported into AVI, Quicktime, and Flash. The entire RETAS suite contains 4 programs which are all specialised for a certain task (drawing, tracing, painting, animating). I haven't been able to find an official price, but it seems to be around $1000 per program (so around $4000 for the entire suite). Toonz - (wiki|site) Developed by a Naples (Italy) based company. Used by many companies around the world like Rough Draft Studios (Simpsons Movie, and Futurama) and most notably, Studio Ghibli. They offer 2 versions of their program; Toonz Bravo and Toonz Harlequin. Toonz Bravo is the basic paper-less software program suitable for beginning animators and small companies. Toonz Harlequin is a more extensive program with the added ablility to work with traditional paper drawings which can then be scanned and imported into the program. Harlequin has been developed in close collaboration with Studio Ghibli. Again, I haven't been able to find the official price, but Bravo seems to be available for around $2000 while Harlequin will set you back for about $7000. And then there is ofcourse a plethora of other software suites and programs that are used by the smaller studios, like anything from the Adobe Suite, or even Maya and 3D Studio Max. I mean, even My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is animated with Flash, and it looks pretty good if we just look at the animation. So your $6000 guess seems to be pretty spot on.
-the poster we need but not the one we deserve-
I don't know who the hell you are or where you came from but that might just be the best post ever. Please be active, friend. [editline]24th December 2014[/editline] but by god that advertisement was pretty bad considering it's supposed to be promoting a media tool
Will there be a season 2 of Daily Lives of Highschool boys? And is the film any good and is it just Season 1 in a live-action film?
No idea if you figured it out yet but the mangaka went on to write touhoee doujins and never finished the manga (or something among those lines) and the anime BDs didn't do so well.
New parasyte finally airing in a day Shits going to be good
Oh I didn't notice this but Yuki Yuuna was written by the same guy who did Akame ga Kill
Yes he has not many works yet, but looks like it's a promising start for him.
Yes he has not many works yet, but looks like it's a promising start for him.
I can't remember exactly too well, but supposedly he has some experience under his belt from being in the VN industry for a while, but that was in a Yuki Yuuna /a/ thread so take that as you will.

Also according to MAL he also founded Minatosoft(which is the company that made Majikoi)
If you guys like gambling/mahjong anime like Kaiji and Akagi you should check out Legendary Gambler Tetsuya, I'm only 5 episodes in but it's just as good as those shows so far. I say this cause none of my mal friends, of which most are from fast anime have it on their list, it's more akagi than kaiji though.
Oh I didn't notice this but Yuki Yuuna was written by the same guy who did Akame ga Kill
Oh, maybe it's worth a watch then
I watched Yuki Yuuna in one go from episode 1 to 11.. it's not very good.
Wow space brothers is really, really good; only thing I wish was different was the fairly long intro
You've single-handedly ruined my birthday Hakita. :(
anime may not love you because anime is not a singular hivemind but with complete confidence i can say that i still love you and i was not sponsored to say that by any corporation, group or secret illuminati for PR
How are you finding these?
I check new mangas and chapters on batoto every day to see if there's anything worth reading, usually on my phone before going to sleep.
I am debating on whether or not I should finish watching Love Live! School Idol Project. I just finished episode 5 so I am pretty much half way done with the anime. If anyone has seen it before, should I drop it or continue?
