This may be a tad late, but in terms of using a scale to measure anime I prefer to rely on the 11-point numeric pain scale. Good anime should ideally cause only minor pain and slight interference with ADLs (activities of daily living) where as the best anime causes no pain at all. The scale is below.
Rating Pain Level
0 No Pain
1 – 3 Mild Pain (nagging, annoying, interfering little with ADLs)
4 – 6 Moderate Pain (interferes significantly with ADLs
7 – 10 Severe Pain (disabling; unable to perform ADLs)

I forget about everything, I forget about the shows I gave a 9/10, fuck if I'm ever going to remember a 7/10 show that there are dozen and millions of. I've literally watched hundreds of shows, how the fuck am I going to remember something that was "good enough" and nothing more than that?
There are a dozen really fucking great shows, just keeping track of them in the head is a pain as it is, that's why we have lists, so we can remember what we watched, and the rating reminds you what you thought about it at the time.
7 is forgettable, no discussion. 8 can stick, 9 probably stays, 10 will always have a place in the heart.
You're arguing about something incredibly personal and subjective here, memory is different for everyone and we connect to mediums differently. I don't get invested in shows like some others do where they want to know more about the world, or feel like they want to dig even further into characters, I watch entertainment, it's all disposable, I don't rewatch either because I can consume something new instead.

An average show is a 5 indeed. An average show is dead boring uninspired and, obviously, average. Just like an average person in life it seeps into the mass, not distinguishing itself from the crowd, becoming part of it. The person can enter and leave your life without making any difference, you won't notice the person left your life. It was a boring dull person that just did and said what everyone else says and that was that. Worked at an office, had a wife, loved his kids, yadda yadda, who fucking cares? Absolutely nobody, he could die alone and nobody would find his body for months.
The average show is a 7 indeed. Not necessarily inspired, but it executes what it does well, entertaining you well and delivering what you want it to deliver in a solid and good way, at times it even makes you excited/laugh/cry, it's a good watch and you had a good time with it, as you finish you don't regret your decision and move on to something else, it was just another show to put in your list that you weren't dissatisifed with watching, it did what you wanted it to do and sometimes a bit more maybe. Leaving no permanent impression it slowly moves out of your consciousness as the months and years pass by, only to be relevant when sombody asks about it and you say "it was good, I enjoyed my time with it, if you like that kinda thing go for it, but if you're looking for *** then you might want to watch something else/name of other show"
This is all futile anyway. It's not going to change any rating systems, and the likelihood of two disagreeing parties agreeing isn't very good.

That's not a discussion. Where are the personal opinions, the conflicts and disagreements? Where are the new points of view you may not have considered? The different ways of thinking? What would be the point in discussing something you agreed on?
Do you enter a discussion with an end goal of winning or something? Or any particular goal beyond sharing opinions and learning to know yourself and others in the process? I'm not sure what you're hoping to achieve if every discussion you have is going to have such strong goals that they need to change something in the world. Do you never discuss things to improve your knowledge about it and other peoples opinions on it? Do you only want to know your own opinion on everything you care about?

the problem is you are discussing something that isn't inherently important, nor does it have a ton of facets which each have varying points of view.
