Okay this was actually a thing in a hentai game. You played as a heroine that was blessed by goddess however you only kept your powers if you stayed pure. Otherwise the game got a lot harder as you lost your best skills.

The clarification is in itself a declaration of fault, that it needed more explaining, that it was wrongly phrased or just completely wrong all together.

Watched through all the current 11 episodes of Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso.
It's the first time this guy directs anything beyond his episode director roles, I guess in many ways it shows.
On the one side this show is really great, coming back time and time again to hit on those emotional heartstrings, it has some fantastic background music (the classical music doesn't really hit home that much, it's just generic classical music) and the animation is overall very good although wasted on pointless shit at times.
On the other hand it has a lot of awfully generic constraints to it. Everything it does is all very standard, normal anime things, and it also really overdoes it at times, like the first time we meet the violinist and there are doves and cherry blossoms all over the fucking place just going fucking overkill, all the humerous moments are standard overreaction simplified face reaction anime humor that gets really tiring and people never deviate from their comedy routines (especially not the rivals). I feel like all moments, all cuts and compositions are all just directly borrowed from all other anime, the art style is also very Honey to Clover. The exposition fucking kills me, and for some reason bugs me much more than Chihayafuru ever did (despite having much more of it) and it it's abusing the use of memories to the point where it could be accused of domestic violence to the viewer. It drags shit out to obscene amounts that makes me lose all emotional investment in the scene because everyone is just sitting there talking about how good it is and trying to describe what's being expressed, pointing out useless stuff or things we already know, or memories of his mother pops in and interrupts everything and oh no flashback moment let's interrupt the scene for the next 5 minutes, oh and we will do it two more times and then end the episode without finishing what's happening.
What really strikes me about composition and colour is how there seems to be no playfulness at all. The background art is always trying to be realistic or completely devoid of detail and instead just using giant gradients or light shines. The colours are all grounded so hard in reality the only solution they came to to make it look vibrant and beautiful when needed was to increase the saturation (or go pure white with rose petals and shit), which isn't good. had you compared it to SHAFT you would have seen a colour palette more focused on bringing the right mood and the correct hues that work together to make it beautiful. The scenery and composition would try to be more out of the ordinary and set much more focus on selling the mood behind the scene than being accurate to the limitations of a camera.
It's like Chihayafuru S2 all over again. So good, yet so many goddamn faults that bugs the shit out of you and makes you want to hate it.

There is good classical music, and there is elevator classical music (generic).
The start of one of those songs used in the show sounds like the person is playing falsly, just bashing a bunch of tangents, which made sense when he was playing poorly, but then it still sounded like that as everyone was praising him for playing it perfectly and I had no idea what the fuck was going on.

there are 248507 users who rated R2, and 288732 users who rated season 1, you're looking at 40000 viewers who dropped the show after the first season and probably rated it lower than it's current average
selective demographics guys, comparing ratings for entries in a series isn't an apples to apples comparison
