I know this is a well known fact already, but jesus christ SAO is so surprisingly fucking bad I just have to say something I thought I was ready after being totally disappointed with NGNL which I expected to be similar in the writing quality department, but this is barely watchable and it's supposedly the only decent arc. 5 minutes can't pass without spaghetti everywhere I'd be fine if the show was trash and entertaining at the same time like how Mirai Nikki, Another, Kuroko S2, Akame ga Kill or something similar were but this isn't just retarded anymore, but also traumatizing experience with no redeemable qualities whatsoever. These 9 episodes were all filled with forced romance between bland samey characters and forced tragedy because some good naive dude with 5 minutes screen time died and MC being the hottest shit for no reason and the entire world revolving around him what the fuck how can anyone watch this without cringing especially when they start crying and shit for like 10 minutes I mean just stop already go kill some shit or start writing more believable characters jesus fuck I want to literally hang myself right now [editline]7th January 2015[/editline] no but serious SAO is trash and I don't even want to imagine what the hell is everything wrong with the second arc
If you think the first arc of SAO is bad I think you're probably going to actually die for the second one.
sorry if its been addressed, but what do you guys think of anything type-moon?
We know, blue. :( Also, NGNL was good.
I still don't understand why people shit on ngnl so much
I thought it was entertaining, and the story was interesting enough, I don't get what was wrong with it
[editline]6th January 2015[/editline]
oh wow I totally forgot what my avatar was
yeah I guess it's pretty obvious that I liked it
NGNL was fucking great and one of the best shows to come out of 2014, anyone who says otherwise is a schmuck.
We know, blue. :( Also, NGNL was good.
Didn't really think too highly of it. I only ended up watching it because a rl friend I talked with anime about convinced me to give it a try and FA kept bukkaking over it. If they removed Jibril and MC's sister I might've liked it more maybe
sorry if its been addressed, but what do you guys think of anything type-moon?
visual novels/light novels = all great. anime, shit if it's not ufotable's.

I think they stole the "how to fuck up a series for dummies" from the same people who did PPS2

great? Yes. One of the best in 2014? Nah, top 20 at best, which is still really good but it's no top 10.
I wasn't having that much fun with the show to begin with, but I found everything after Jibril's game boring as hell. I forced myself to finish it in the last 2 episodes just for the sake of finishing it.
Also I hated the MC and found half of the cast annoying. MC was constantly changing between a smooth talking badass to a socially inept idiot. Maybe that was supposed to be funny or something, but I found it eye rollingly annoying.
I liked the artstyle tho
ngnl is a show that makes a joke out of otaku escapism and that joke gets really old about 3 episodes in

it's like how in yugioh yugi would change into a badass during games but NGNL forgot to have a good explanation for that.
ngnl looks like genric pandering shit with special arts sorry trunk
edit: publix brand anime
If anything, I loved the art style the most out of the show. It was so insanely colorful, I felt like I was watching a rainbow
I wasn't a fan of how the games were nonsensical and made up the rules as they went along on top of the fact that the MCs could never ever lose. There is a certain degree of "the main character is generally going to win 95% of the time" in stuff but they weren't even pretending there was a chance.
Half the appeal of game-based anime is that the main character can fuck up without it being the end of the world. NGNL made a point to make it the end of the world if they lost with stakes so insane they stopped being stakes.

I wasn't a fan of the bloom and filters. Whenever I looked at a background, all I could think was that there was something there, but you could barely see half of it.

Well I wouldn't go that far but it was good.

nooo
it was 7/10 worth watching
I enjoyed NGNL immensely, probably more than I should have.

no don't you'll summon dgg.
Whenever I pop in here randomly, I never see anything about a certain popular-ish anime. What's FP's general consensus on Hunter x Hunter 2011?

I think the consensus was "really damn good"

It's the best high budget shounen action anime out there so far.
did anyone else watch selector wixoss?
I just finished the series and I was wondering if anyone else had seen it, because It seems kinda unpopular

I know people liked it but I dropped it pretty fast.

I was watching it to see where the ride was going but I lost motivation to finish it after they revealed the nonsensical villain's nonsensical and vague motivations that made no sense and only raised three times as many questions as they answered, not that it answered anything.

I watched it. The ending seemed a little rushed, but I can't say I'm surprised, since it wasn't selling very well. It's slow to start, but picks up around EP5.

After watching the whole series, if you're talking about [sp]mayu[/sp] then [sp]yeah, it never answered anything about who she was, or how she started the selector games[/sp] I'd say the story was pretty shit overall, because it had so many plot holes that were never explained, and some of the plot devices were really bland and uninteresting. On the other hand, I thought the characters were great, for the most part they all had some nice development. Pretty much everyone had an interesting change in attitude or character, which made it interesting enough for me to finish.
I cant say I'd blame anyone for dropping it though, it sure takes its time to get "interesting", and the screwy plot doesn't really help that.
[editline]6th January 2015[/editline]
Oh yeah, and the music/ art was excellent, perfectly fitting for the atmosphere of the series (except for a few parts where there was some phenomenally shitty dubstep thrown in for whatever reason)
Well the Steins;Gate OVA was interesting, and revealed a couple of interesting things we'd never have known, like [sp]Daru's future wife. Also, seeing the "So cool, sonufabitch!" guy as the cab driver was hilarious.[/sp]
