It's kinda weird to be Alive right now, for me at least. You grow up learning things in history class as things that happened in the past. Even 9/11 was history for me (I was alive but don't remember any of it). The cold war and 20th century aggression between nation-states seems like something petty and far removed from today (in which we fight ideological battles between terrorists and western values). Even our conflicts with china are far colder than a cold war; they're economic and purely competitive in nature, not violent in any way.
Then Russia goes ahead and invades Ukraine and ramps up this propaganda war against the US and the West and it seems like we're in the beginnings of a new Cold War (or halftime is over). It's just weird that I feel like I'm living in the beginning of a new geo-political conflict that mirrors one that we learned in the history books as "petty and stupid". It feels sort of like a sense of responsibility; like it's MY generation that's going to have to deal with Putin and Putin-like neo-tsars.
It just feels like life prior to these last couple years has been sort of the embodiment of Francis Fukuyama's "End of History" ideology, and that everything from here would just be economic competition among capitalist states without any sort of violence or ideological battles, but it seems that the 20th century politics that we condemn as barbaric now are still here. It's just kinda scary to me, to be honest

everything in history is petty and stupid in hindsight and everything happening in the now is the most important thing to happen in all of history
this is how it goes

people have a tendency to look back on history and see everything in the big picture, when you look at every world conflict from the ending, when everything is over and done with it's very easy to think "oh everything turned out okay there was nothing to worry about"
in the present day every little thing seems to be critically important, because it's happening in the moment and we don't know what it will lead to
things will cover the headlines for months just to be reduced to a single sentence in a history book 30 years later

You could also combine parts the Greek myth of Hercules with me.
Like I wrestle Zeus, but in the middle Zeus pulls a hamstring and we all have a good laugh.
I'm pretty convinced most of the mythology out there comes from storytellers who got really fucking high off some crazy medieval drugs.

nothing quiet as exciting as watching the car repair guy changing out the air filter in my glove box and pulling out an entire mouse nest that was attached with it, dropping it on the floor, then both of us just sitting there staring at it for a minute trying to process it.
