Katsuhiro Otomo (creator of Akira) did the scenario, and Takumi Nagayasu (guy who was onboard the Akira movie and aided in the background art) did the art. Fucking great series this is. Shame it's incomplete though, as the last two volumes are nowhere to be found on the internet.

There's another route with the owner of the pet store, it's overall much happier than Risa's route. Especially considering what you mentioned.
