Also rebuild doesn't necessarily mean re-make. It's a rebuild in the metaphorical sense that the characters are getting another chance. Another chance within their respective universe. A chance to re-build their lives.
But regardless of that, if you don't watch the series YOU WILL BE MISSING OUT on some great subtext, plot, and characterization that is revisited in Rebuild; and like I said before, the FUCKYEAH moments are 100x more fantastic only after having watched the first series.

Here's my argument, plain and simple: The plot in Rebuild is so much more fulfilling in rebuild after experiencing the sorta-depression that was the tv-series.
