This was a fantastic demolition derby racing game I played when I was young, I still have the CD, but it refuses to work properly on modern computers, so I have to play the PS1 version. Thankfully, it's mostly identical, it just looks slightly worse.

"orphen: scion of sorcery" was a pretty fun multi-route action RPG where you can side with 3 different characters and help them with their stories to uncover the mystery of an island. i think i remember it playing something like a 3D castlevania? then i somewhat recently found out that there was an anime of it, and it was based of a light novel.

"yanya caballista city skater" was basically "anime THPS" where you controlled everything using only the two thumbsticks with an awkward skateboard that mounted on top of them. it was hilariously gimmicky but the gameplay was solid. pretty similar to jet grind radio in a few ways

the only other game i can think of that would fit a label of "hidden gem" would be "metropolismania". except it was pretty fucking terrible but i still somehow managed to enjoy it after buying it out of a $5 bargain bin. Basically think "sim city" except the entire gameplay is going around as a corporate stooge befriending people, listening to their outrages demands, and then trying to solve those demands by using the connections you've built up from befriending people. the controls are terrible, the interaction with NPCs is lackluster, there's only a couple of "stages", and there's not much depth. and yet for some reason it was still charming

I picked up AC2 recently, once I acquired a PS2 of my own. After playing Mechwarrior series, I was very much interested in what the game had to offer. Menus were confusing, but playing as a Merc mech in any game is a thumbs up. And then missions started. Jesus fuck, who decided the difficulty of this game and who was the schizophrenic fuck who came up with the controls. They could have simple aped PS1 Mechwarrior 2 controls, and it would have played so much better.
