Actually, due to the fact that Lewa was possessed by the Bohrok twice, he actually has some sort of psychic link with the swarms, which was somewhat useful. I think.
Ignika did what he did so he could be a hero, like Matoro before him. It was Lewa's suggestion, but Ignika's choice to do so.

This guy is from a story I heard once.
He is called Bobby and he is a demon apparently waiting under the desks of game studios to suck all the blood and creativity out of the developers and leaving nothing, but a lifeless dry shell.
After he's done devouring the developers, he turns the absorbed energy into gems, which he then uses to invest in other studios just to devour the developers again or force them to make crappy licence products or mappacks for eternity.

don't get me wrong, I liked Megaman X as a series, but I hated X as a character. He was extremely one-dimensional and literally was only even put in the franchise to push Zero to the side. All the games' actual emotions seemed to come from Zero, X really provided nothing but a closer tie-in to the original series, which wasn't all that necessary. He fit far better in his copy and cyber forms that he took on in the Zero series than he did as an actual protagonist.
