You can still post new stuff, even if it's not OC.
My process:
1) Find a good webcomic that few people here read. Gag-a-day ones are best for this - any humor dependent on knowing the characters is right out.
2) For the first post, find a few of the best ones from the archives. Post two to four in a single post.
3) If everyone finds them funny, post one or two more from the archives. Otherwise, return to step 1.
4) From then on, post the new ones if they're actually good, or if you need emergency content.
I've done this several times. First one was Rob and Elliot. I kinda overdid step 2 on that one, posted about twenty or so over the course of an hour. Kinda killed the humor. So I don't post that one anymore.
I tried it again with Wonderella. Pulled off the introduction decently, and didn't really overdo the initial posts. It's not an ideal one for here, though - quite a few of the jokes rely on knowing the characters, or the basic plot premise, or something like that.
I've also seen people doing it badly. Questionable Content gets posted every once in a while, but even though that's a good webcomic, it's not good LMAO material - too continuity-based, too character-driven. Same for Sequential Art - it's a decent comic (opinions vary), but rarely good LMAO material.
You also want to avoid commonly-read webcomics. I get annoyed every time someone posts an XKCD or a Fanboys (to name two), because I normally read those elsewhere. And when many people here read them, they also tend to repost them. So well-known ones are risky.
I'm on a quest of being a better poster!
