Happened once in class. I fell asleep in my seat when I had a dream I was about to kick open a door when I twitched and kicked the dude's seat in front of me. I became conscious at that second and sat up straight so fast I cracked my back

Without the subtitles you see the depth of the scene and follow the characters easily..
With subtitles you end up with a depth-less screen and reading every word, even if you can hear it perfectly. Ideally subtitles are good if you don't want to watch the movie too loud or the talk scenes are too quiet.
