A genetics institute in Russia has truly-domesticated foxes, but they're likely expensive as FUCK.
Red foxes are sometimes kept as pets, but it's not a good idea.

So they basically run away from anyone except their surrogate-parent owner. Not exactly a good pet.
I actually saw some foxes a few weeks ago - at a cookout. We'd thrown out some uneaten corn (still on the cob), into the woods. Two foxes came and munched on them. Very shy creatures - they actually hid while they ate. Very nice-looking animals, but I would not want one as a pet.

They're known for being hyper as shit, and need a rather large area to run in and get the energy out. That being said, i have a nightvision camera and i record video of this family of red foxes in a patch of forest behind our house.

From what I've heard, it's not at all like a dog. Foxes aren't domesticated, so it figures thatat the very least it takes an immense amount of time to care for them.
Rather to say no from the start than to get one and neglect it, wouldn't you say?
