Party hard?
Turn off the date on your camera, it detracts from the photos. Nice otherwise.
Hello, my Aux. friends. Here are some more pictures of my biking adventures! Hopefully, I'll revive this thread from it's 3 day sleep. The photos are in a non-chronological order. Some beautiful, summer, mountain colors
All I keep thinking is "happy little trees."
What did you do with the caterpillar afterwards?
We let it go.
I got injured while riding today, which is a big letdown for me, but I still managed to snap some cute photos of the local fauna before I went back home. I wonder if there are any birdwatchers on FP Maybe they could identify this little bird On the other hand - cats! Well, singular actually I fed it a piece of my sandwich
I fucking love cats
What injury did you pick up?
What injury did you pick up?
I was trying to drop down from a large stone back to the trail we were riding on, but my back tire hit a tree root and made the back jump up (I'm riding a hardtail i.e. no back shock absorber) and caused me to vault over the handlebars. My head hit a tree while I was falling and I guess I stretched a ligament in my neck, because it hurts pretty badly when I turn my head - sort of like when you've been sleeping with an open window and your neck cramps up. I was wearing a helmet and full-body protection though, so besides the neck thing, I'm okay. Can't ride a bike though. [editline]18th August 2012[/editline] How would you feel about some more GIFs in the same style? I made like 5-6 of some pretty cool rivers and waterfalls. The total size of all of them is 16 mb.
Long distance linemen on the job. The wand they use equalizes the helicopters voltage difference with the lines. Most likely the line carries 500KV or 500,000 Volts. I'm not sure of the amperage, but its low enough not to kill them. [editline]19th August 2012[/editline] This is actually a pretty cool read while we're on the topic of electricty. It was a MASSIVE cascading failure affecting most of eastern Canada, New York, New England, and the Northern Midwest. I remember the day and the moment, I was 7 years old, playing Sim Theme Park on a shitty dell. The power cut out. I was pissed cause I didn't save my game. I ran downstairs and tried to help my dad start up the shitty portable generator we had bought to prevent our basement from flooding during blackouts. (Our basement is under the water table) We were some of the last people to receive power again. about 06:00 the next morning I recall waking up on the floor of my parent's bedroom surrounded by flashlights and candles, to the sound of the line transformer outside the window receiving power again after almost 14 hours of dead lines. Just reading about the massive expanse of the blackout fascinates me about high voltage and electrical generation.

Considering just a few amps can kill you, if they hit the right spot, they would easily die from that much current. They're safe because the current never flows through them. The helicopter is ungrounded, so they just need to equalize it before they come in contact with the lines themselves. The wands have small cables going to the helo body, so they don't even get hit by the current themselves. And while it has to be pretty scary for the linemen, I think the helicopter pilot has to be just as terrified. Most of the pilots I know are scared of hitting power lines, and keep the hell away from them (maybe "scared" isn't the right word, but you know what I mean). Flying that close to those lines has *got* to be pretty nerve-wracking for the pilot.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go take the cover off my breaker panels and stare at them.

Bioluminescence is cool. Any wallpaper sizes?
Just a little bit I made for a project I'm working on, I had no idea that you could take such big pictures without stitching smaller ones together separately.
Any wallpaper sizes?
Can only find 1600x1200
Recognize any of these? Belle looks really cute. The rest are pretty good too.
