I like how programming is supposedly strictly left brain.
I think that quite a lot of creativity is possible and even required at time while programming. Sure there's the drudge work but sometimes you have to figure out some crazy ass solution.

I agree, I can do programming if you tell me what to do. But if you ask me to design something, don't expect anything back.
I was under the assumption that the "left/right brain" model was thrown out years ago

The problem solving part of programming, and the logic behind it, may very well lie there. But the rest, the creativity, getting stuff done, requires a LOT of creativity. Which is why it ususally takes me longer to figure out what I want to do, and stuff like that, than how to solve individual problems of tasks.
