Opposing force is OpFor, a military term for enemies opposing your forces.
Water Hazard is in golf a puddle of water to avoid swinging your ball in.
Dark energy is a hypothetical form of energy that permeates all of space and tends to accelerate the expansion of the universe.
Freeman Pontifex: The term Pontifex, now the term "pontiff" is applied to any high or chief priest in ancient rome.
T-minus: T refers to starting TIME of a flight or project or insertion
T minus refers to the period that comes BEFORE that begins.

It's also an oblique physics reference, to Newton's Third Law - for any action there is an equal but opposite reaction; each force is countered by an equal but opposite force (sometimes translated as "opposing force").
A lot of the chapter titles in HL are bad physics puns.
