If you're into the movies, the two Evil Dead games on PS2, A Fistful of Boomstick and Regeneration, are both pretty good. A Fistful of Boomstick is an action-adventure open world-ish game with hack and slash and RPG elements. Regeneration is straight up Devil May Cry level character action. Also the King Kong FPS is actually really fucking amazing. Can't really recommend anything else that hasn't already been said on here. Maybe Guitar Hero. You can also play PS1 games, just be sure to get a PS1 memory card.
[t]http://img.gamefaqs.net/box/6/1/4/71614_front.jpg[/t] Comes with III, Vice City, and San Andreas. Get Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories as well for maximum carjackery. Also if you're in the mood for some quirky Japanese fun, get Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari. Loved those games as a kid.
Persona 3 FES is a favorite o' mine.
-gta trilogy-
But that doesn't even include the first edition of Vice City that still has tear gas
God Hand is a must!
Vice City had tear gas? I didn't even know that until now.
Yes, but in the first PS2 version and that version only. Spawned in the back of the police station in Washington Beach, but nowhere else on the map. I still have my own copy of it, but sadly the disc is too scratched to play anymore :s:
I'd look for Dark Cloud 2, it's incredibly overlooked/underrated for such a quality game don't gotta worry about playing the second game first either, it's its own standalone thing. Like playing Timesplitters 2 or 3 first. Also great games. And their main protagonist is the voice of Tony the Tiger

don't forget the ONE good crash game (in my opinion) for the PS2. Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex. I have heard a lot of mixed things about twinsanity, I personally hated it
:snip:
If you want a fast paced mech combat game look for S.L.A.I. Steel Lancer Arena International, it's a sequel/quasi-remake of Phantom Crash which was a Xbox exclusive. I don't think S.L.A.I. is as good but that's just because it looks a little worse and the menu is a weird TRON inspired thing instead of a city map. The Syphon Filter games are cool, but very strange, stealth combat games. It has vibes of Metal Gear and Splinter Cell but also vampire things. I forget if you're actually vampires. It's also clunky as all hell but pretty cool if you can get into it. Also if you like turn based strategy games and don't mind anime/terrible voice acting the Disgaea games are pretty good.
Cold Winter, an underrated 007 style FPS with some nice tech features.
war of the monsters! [editline]30th September 2015[/editline] metal arms glitch in the system
Snake Eater?

I recommend each game I posted.

Here's the /v/ approved list that I agree with for the most part. Sorry for the jpeg compression but you can still make out the titles. Linked because it's huge: http://i.imgur.com/Us7MxaP.jpg
The Raidou Kuzunoha duology of Devil Summoner if you're lucky.
I have a few golden games I haven't seen anyone suggest yet [img_thumb]http://www.mobygames.com/images/covers/l/18043-robotech-battlecry-playstation-2-front-cover.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/34/Mystic_Heroes_Coverart.png[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://mlb-s2-p.mlstatic.com/destroy-all-humans-collection-para-ps2-frete-gratis--779-MLB4705385670_072013-F.jpg[/img_thumb] Poured hours into these ones, some of my favorites.
