Just need to vent a little bit: So I live in a farm town in the eastern most part of Iceland. We have to drive over a very high mountain and through a 60 year old tunnel that's basically one way only to get anywhere (in this case the airport closest to us). In the winter there's obviously a lot of ice and snow on the roads and a lot of the times during the winter the roads are closed due to the fact of how dangerous it can be to drive the roads. This means, you can't make any promises to go anywhere out of your town during the winter. Shit can always happen. I'm in a band. We're trying to get recognized and we're sort of doing well. Then all of a sudden I get invited to some group for a festival that's held on the 21st-22nd of december in the capital, Reykjavík. I'm wondering what the hell is going on and my friend/bassist calls me and tells me that he booked us a gig in the capital. Fine and dandy! Opportunity! GRASP OPPURTUNITY YEAH? Even when flight tickets cost an arm and a leg (seriously, I could buy a plane ticket to london and back for the amount that we're being charged for national flights). I'm a student with a job at one of the two local grocery stores here. My pay is NOT good. I use my money for school, food and helping out at home. I don't have money to be going to Reykjavík. Bassist tells me he's gonna get us tickets from the local aluminum factory (alcoa) which cost a lot less, but you're never sure about these tickets. Not to mention our singer who so happily said that he would love to go all of a sudden has no money to get plane tickets. Our drummer lives in hungary and is learning to be a doctor. Which is great, but it means that he's not here often. He comes back on the 15th of december, but get this, he's not coming home until after the festival. Great! So we have to try and manage to find a place to practice that has amplifiers and a drumset! Not to mention that we have TWO DAYS TO PRACTICE after a 3 month break?! There's no pay for this gig by the way, which usually I'd be okay with. The fact though that this might cripple my ability to buy christmas presents for my family bothers me even more. And now they're advertising that we WILL be there? When we have absolutely no idea on if we get the cheap tickets or not. How are we sure that our singer will have enough money to buy a ticket to get down to Reykjavík. They're sure as hell aren't driving because our singer has IBS and can't stand long car trips and to make it even more silly, there's no telling how bad the roads are going to be, and which ones are gonna be closed! For fucks sake, they're not thinking this through. THEY'RE TELLING ME THAT IT'S GOING TO BE AN ADVENTURE AND IT'LL ALL BE FINE?! This sounds like the worst adventure in the world. Fuck

I've been living in this new town for almost 6 months now and barely know a small group of people to sit by at lunch, and one of them's a complete idiot, but I have no alternatives so I put up with him anyways. The fact that 2 games I bought today don't work. I was in town today and decided to treat myself to some games, I picked up a copy of deus ex one ps2 for £1 and some serious sam game for 50p. I get home and test them to find that they don't work, I was not pleased. While I was in town I got a copy of persona 3 (not FES) for £7.99, it was £2 off because there was no manual. Later on in McDonalds I had a look at it and realized that the sleeve was printed out. Not pleased, it looks like ass when you get close to it. Come to think of it, the copy of persona 3 fes they have for sale had a printed out one to.

When i complain about not having a GF/not getting laid everyone is like "dude i told you like a hundred times you need to get out there and socialize" this really makes me feel shit, because every time i try to socialize with strangers it just ends up with me feeling really awkward and stupid, so when I am with strangers I just dont speak because it feels so fucking shitty talking to them.
