I wish my English/Humanities instructor didn't try to impose his own opinions and interpretations onto the classes. I don't even think he realizes that he does it. He has strict rules about writing papers, including "remove all 'you, we, I, etc.' and your paper will be bias-free." I don't think he gets that bias can happen without explicitly saying "this is my opinion." I sort of called him out on this once, while we were going over the meaning of a certain poem ([I]Harlem[/I], to be more specific). I told him that there could be multiple interpretations of it, including my own, which was rather different. He also seems to have the [URL=http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EveryoneIsJesusInPurgatory]Everyone Is Jesus in Purgatory[/URL] behavior typical of an English instructor. He says that every word put on paper, as well as all the meanings that can be derived from the word, is entirely deliberate, and he expects us to write entire essays about the meaning of poetry. It's kind of ridiculous, especially since I've always hated the flowery language of most poetry - why do you have to cloak your message in abstract metaphor? Way back in 9th grade, I had an experiment - we had a project to create a miniature book of poetry, covering many of the various types of and techniques used in poetry. I intentionally made my poetry as abstract and meaningless as possible while using "deep" words. I ended up getting the highest grade in the class...

Well I've just been "friend zoned" by a girl that's been leading me on for a few months now and I actually thought that she did like me a lot.
