Okay, nevermind. Not bug bites. Apparently, (probably) my antibiotic has made me break out in hives. My eyes are also bloodshot, and my lips are all puffy now.

My niece managed to hook what appeared to be about 16 inch(40 centimeter) Northern Pike. She reeled it in 75% of the way to shoreline, and then the fishing reel [I]shattered[/I]. My dad and I raced to viking pull it in, and by then the pike had bent the hook and broke away. So pissed off right now.

A pike shouldn't be able to destroy a spinning outfit. I've got a Quantum CT30PTi and an old Shakespeare Sigma Pro, both of which have easily handled sizable Pikes and Tiger Muskies. What I figure happened though[and from the looks of the damage] it appears the small bolt which connects to power roller/bail arm snapped out from the fish hitting so hard.

But don't quote me on that, I'm not a 100% credible source.
