it's generally pretty hard to find puppies in the pound just because people love puppies and they'll take them and leave the older dogs to rot because the world sucks if you're getting a pound dog don't let the cuteness factor make your decision, pick the dog that sticks out most to you regardless of age that's what I did with my dog and he's been the best dog I've ever had
