The biggest part of being a good driver in my opinion is really just actually paying attention to the road rather than your passengers/the radio/your cellphone/etc. And the few times I've screwed up it was always obviously my fault and always in an area no one else was in danger.

Well that's what people should be doing. But most of them don't while they're behind the wheel. They're more concerned about chatting with friends or drinking coffee as opposed to maintaining control of the vehicle, and watching out for others.
