So I started to mow my yard today. Mower ran fine for a little while, then began slowly revving down over a period of 30 seconds or so until it finally shut off. I figure I'll just let it sit for a while to cool off then tinker with it.
About an hour later I go to tinkering. I clean the underside, clean the airfilter, and clean and re-gap the spark plug for good measure. It still does the same thing. So I call the guy I bought it from (he runs a shop for shit like this) and he says it's probably water in the gas. OK, so I empty the gas tank and put fresh gas from the station in there. Same shit.
Then it's getting close to dark and I'm putting my shit up from the other yardwork of the day and I notice the can of carburetor cleaner I usually use on my Monte Carlo, so I figure "Why the fuck not?".
This is when shit gets real.
I pull the air filter back off to get to the carb and get the mower running so I can spray cleaner in it. It still died after about 30 seconds the first few times, but on about the 7th try it stayed running. I'm standing there with the mower running just to watch it and make sure it's not going to die when [b]BAM!!![/b]
Black smoke starts spewing out of the carb, the exhaust, and the crank case at the top and metal starts rattling around inside the engine. I run behind a tree not knowing what the fuck it's going to do and after a minute or so it shuts off. Now it refuses to crank back up, and my yard is still unmowed.
