I think that gold member should be earned rather than bought but it's really not a huge deal. It is really hilarious to see people making such a big deal of it though.

Before you could buy it, it just meant you managed not to get permabanned in 2 years and 2,000 posts. Doesn't necessarily mean you're a dedicated user or even a good poster. I mean look at some of the gold members from before you could purchase it again. Some of them are pretty terrible posters.

Like I said earlier, I don't think just because it started out that way that it was best that way. But it really doesn't matter anyways. Either way you can buy it now and there's nothing that can be done about it.

Oh, I guess you never did say it was better. You just said it was funny because it was originally that way. And the biggest reason I would want gold (other than the reason I mentioned about pissing people off) is for gifs and the bigger avatar limit. It's not nearly as important as people try to make it.

It's the sense of elitism that people get from having access to two hidden forums and having more privileges than your average user. It doesn't actually make them any better than everybody else but it makes them feel like it.
