Here's the thing: 1 - I can tell my internet friends to go fuck themselves without any side effects. 2 - I can wrestle my real life friends, but can't wrestle my internet friends. Shit's hard to choose.
Voted "internet dudes" since I interact with my irl friends a lot more online anymore than irl anyways. That said though I'm about as close with my best online-only friends as I am with my best irl friends.
Despite being on this forum for almost six years, I've chatted up a bunch of people maybe a couple of times - at one point I played some Minecraft with some FPers, but that's about it. I like to keep my "online life" and real life separate (though you could probably figure out who I am fairly easily), and I don't feel the need to communicate with people on FP (or any other forum for that matter) beyond whatever thread I'm in. In real life I have a bunch of great friends, so I basically have my social needs covered, which kinda makes online bonds look less attractive - seems like a bunch of work as well, it's much harder to gauge personality through text. Either way, I don't doubt that there are bunch of great people out there, but I don't really feel the need right now. Maybe it'll change later in life, but I doubt it. On a sentimental note, I kinda miss the POY thread - it was pretty active at one point, and it was a much more personal look at the people on FP. It's also obvious that some people (Autumn, Dav0r (I think)) ended up being good friends in real life, which I find pretty heartwarming. Really I think FP has grown more impersonal over the years, which is kinda sad.
It's easier to find people online who i have similar interests with.
I ain't got no motherfuckin' friends
what is a friend? is it edible?
Can't go down to the pub (feasibly) or such with Internet friends, but a lot easier to find Internet friends with very similar interests and willing to vidya with you at normally absurd times of the day. I quite like both tbh.
I don't know how to make friends since i lost my old friends...
I think it's a matter of how you can relate to the person and have conversations or work with them regardless of if it's through the internet or face to face. The more productive and healthy you feel interacting with them is a sign of how various people are considered to you.
All my real life friends turned into assholes or ripped me off/didn't give a fuck about me to begin with. My entire life, I had "friends" take advantage of my kindness and generosity. Internet friends all the way, man.
Can't go down to the pub (feasibly) or such with Internet friends
I've gone to the pub with two other facepuncher's once
I don't have any friends. Because I'm too lazy to find one. :v:
Gotta have that balance yo! Always have bros you can hang out in real life and Internet bros to play games and chat. Knowing people from different countries is always great. Also 26% of this thread apparently has no friends? This kinda worries me.
I don't have irl friends anymore so I guess my answer would be online is better
I think you can meet people who are a lot more similar to yourself through the internet whereas IRL you either have to accept whatever kind of people you meet in your area, even if they have very different personalities, or just accept being lonely.
i have no friends and im fine with it i only contemplate suicide once every few minutes
Given that the collective likeness of my online friends outweighs how much I like my only in real life friend, I'd have to say internet friends are who I like more.
Knife Party hasn't made a song called Real Life Friends so i'm going with Internet Friends
