My chief miner in dwarf fortress suffered a major work accident while mining out a magma death pit. The floor collapsed under her and she fell about three stories onto jagged rocks and boulders, fracturing her arm in two places and almost breaking her leg. Lying at the bottom of a pit scant meters over a massive pool of magma, she stayed there in agony for a day or two while the other miners worked to dig a path down to her.
Once she was found, she was immediately carried to the hospital, where the entire hospital staff worked to rebuild her. She spent days on the operating table as all the doctors performed surgery (without anesthetic because medieval medicine) to fix everything.
And then at the end of it all, the last doctor in the room set the last bone and handed the miner a set of crutches. [I]Without hesitation,[/I] the miner immediately jumps off the operating table and goes right back down to mine the rest of the pit out.
This one dwarf is the fucking hero of the realm holy shit.

I was originally on the fence about redownloading Anarchy Online. I thought it was going to be a case of playing it for an hour only get bored because the character I enjoyed playing the most is at the free player level cap. I resumed playing one of the characters I started a long time ago and thus was low leveled and am having more fun than I thought I would. I missed hopping onto my craft character to crank out stuff thats better than store bought or to turn junk jewelry into more profitable jewelry.
For the record, it IS possible to upgrade a free account to paid, but then if the subscription lapses you can't play it as a free account anymore. Also, a level capped free player will supposedly not be able to cope in similar level subscriber content due to equipment and other factors.
